AlKim: I was actually thinking of doing something similar when I'm in the market for a new office chair. You can get used ones for next to nothing, and second-hand bucket seats for a couple of dozen to around a thousand euros depending on what you're willing to settle with (a budget of about 200€ would do, I think). Combine the two and hey presto, comfiest chair ever. You'd probably want to implement some kind of swivelling armrests as well, which might be tricky but probably doable.
Yeah, I'd be happy with a crappy beaten up used seat out of a Camry or something. Anything is more comfortable than my current pathetic excuse of a setup hehe. I saw a pair of bucket seats in our local classifieds for $60 not long ago and I'm told they're not that hard to find cheap as long as you're not looking for something brand new or fancy. Utilitarian is fine with me. It'd actually double as a good seat to play guitar in as well, although I'd likely want to rig up an adjustment to raise it to a guitar friendly height. :)

That plus a wooden base, some angle iron or similar hardware, possibly some adjustability, swiveling stands to hold gear that are also easily removable, etc. and also cable management.

Oh crap, it never occurred to me until now... I wonder how many and which racing/driving sims might support the NaturalPoint TrackIR head trackers? Shit, that would be awesome. I'll have to plop over to their website and see if they list any.

Holy CRAP!

Woohoo, seems like almost every driving/racing game supports this thing! I'll finally get to get some REAL use out of it now! :) I've only used it with FSX and ArmA games to date, but am kind of blown away by how many car sims claim some form of support there.

For those of you who like racing sims and have never used a TrackIR before, I can return the favour to you and give extreme high recommendations to buy one. It is a mind blowing experience at least in the flight sims and ArmA so far. Totally a game changer.

This is going to be exciting!

I take it the SG avatar is not just for show, then? :) What other gear do you have?

Well, a lot missing there too. No NFS Shift, or any F1 games past 2011...

Wow, that looks pretty awesome. I was just pricing those earlier today and they're around $300 for the developer kit and aiming to be much lower when it hits the market. They want people to not have to pay for them apparently but I'm not sure what they mean by that. Presumably they want them to be just included with computers/consoles/etc. in the future I imagine. Definitely interested, watched a 3hour keynote speech by John Carmack where he discussed the Rift along with an interview with him and the designer of the Rift and some others. Very cool tech.

Oh so is that the Epi or the SG? The pics I found make them look very much alike.

I've got a Godin Freeway Classic & Epi Dot Studio (with P90s), and a Bryce 6-string bass. I've done tweaks and upgrades on all of them, and all of them are great fun.

That's ridiculous! I love the treadmill thing. It was funny to see Suzi there, I'd only ever seen her in Formula 1.
Oh, my avatar photo is just a random Gibson SG photo I swiped off a Google image search. My SG I picked up new in 1990 and have beaten the hell out of it over the years as my primary guitar. Love the damn thing, beautiful instrument. Sadly, it needs a full fret replacement and other work done to her so she's out of commission at the moment. I picked up the Epiphone used from a buddy for a steal a couple years ago to use as a backup for the SG and when the SG went south I used the Epi as my main. I bought the Ibanez 7-string back in April or so from a friend and got a great deal on it. Since then I've mostly played the Ibanez about 80-85% of the time as I'm addicted to the benefits a 7-string offers (above and beyond the extra 5 notes that is <grin>).

Now... if I could only hook up the guitar to the computer and use it as a video game input device... then I'd be rocking! Hehe. Actually... I plan on buying a Roland GR-55 guitar synthesizer with the GK-3 hex pickup, so I'd have the ability to get MIDI out of the guitar into the computer. With a MIDI2JOY driver I could emulate a joystick. This could get interesting... :)
Well, it's been a while but I finally hit a sale on the Logitech G27 for $199 CAD and ordered it last night. Should be arriving sometime this week if all goes well. Pretty excited to try it out, first with Grand Theft Auto 4, and then with some of the other 12-13 or so titles I've accumulated from various bundles and some of the fine suggestions offered by people here. Looking forward to having fun with this thing and wanted to thank everyone again for the advice and suggestions!

Thanks...

You know.. it was silly of me to not provide a link of where someone else might buy it too. Duh. ;o)

Direct Canada $199 (CAD):
http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=12660AC4090&vpn=941-000045&manufacture=LOGITECH

Also, normally I would have attempted to do a pricematch at the awesome http://www.memoryexpress.com as they normally charge $299 for this unit and give a pricematch discount bonus of 25% of the difference in price which would have been another $25 off but I couldn't do that for two reasons sadly... 1) They also have it on sale for $249 right now so the discount would have only been $12.50 (which is still good and I'd have taken it mind you). 2) They are out of stock and pricematch only works on in-stock items.

But if anyone else decides to purchase it, be sure to check at memoryexpress.com to see if they have it in stock as you'll get a nice bonus discount there. They also pricematch shipping and handling etc. too. :)

Anyhow if anyone else buys one there let me know how it works out for you too. I'm kind of excited to get this dang thing after all this time. ;oP
In my country prices start from 330$. So I'll stick to my old Logitech Momo Racing... :-)

Ouch, yeah the prices are super inflated in places for various things. We're getting wallet-raped on lots of computer gear here in Canada right now. I built my new PC in Feb 2013 and the prices of almost every component I bought then, which are now 1 generation old - are *higher* by at least 10-50% or more than when I bought them back then. The current generation hardware is just through the roof. It's hard to find good deals at all. ;o/ Not just on computer stuff either. I wanted to buy a Rocktron MIDI Raider foot controller for my guitar rig and it was $350 last year brand new regular price at a Canadian retailer for like 6-8 months... when I went to buy it, it is now $550 for the exact same unit! I just don't get it... I ended up not buying it.
