I have completed 14 of the 136 games I own here (9.7%?)... only one I hadn't owned before Gog. Kinda depressing, cause I still don't have a life haha. I love games but I have no time and even less ability to sit for long periods. I yearn for the days of no responsibilities and good blood circulation. Or at least a standing desk

Licurg: Never bothered with an exact count, but most of them - more than 80% .
Show off! :P
Not counting freebies id say about 80 or 90 percent. I only buy games that really interest me and usually just play one until im through. Percentage decreased since i switched to digital platforms i think, so many sales :P

Shouldn't you be done 100% with Sacrifice by now? Or do you mean to say you stepped out on it and played a different game on the side? ;)

mrkgnao: Well, it still leaves the question of GOG games composed of multiple games. For example, for Might and Magic 1-6, do you need to see six ending credits to consider it finished?

Johnmourby: There 's no real right answer but If I have completed one game in a bundle I call it a complete game in my catalogue because it's a full use of a purchase. EG. I have finished Duke Nukem 1 but not Duke Nukem 2. But I call it one games in my catalogue finished. Ditto with expansion packs.
I like your thinking sir! (makes my backlog just that little bit smaller)

On that basis I own 128 games on GOG, of which I've finished 31.

Giving me a completion rate of roughly 24%.

Does sacrifice berate you for being unfaithful? Or maybe it gets tired of being played and tells you to play other games?
My completion % is about as high as the approval rating for congress

SCPM: Finished 201 out of 421, so about 48%. Don't think I'll be able to finish them all in this lifetime, there are plenty I'm in no hurry to finish. Maybe one day when Windows or DOSBox has state-saving, I'll be able to save-crawl my way through the games that I really suck at like Volgarr, Cannon Fodder, and the Raiden Legacy games.

You know what happens when you defeat your backlog?

Nothing happens! That's the simple & sober truth. No angels will descend from Heaven to play you a celestial fanfare, all you might get is a gentle pat on the shoulder and some pitiful understanding looks thrown into your general direction, maybe some slow clapping. That being said, I was able to improve my less than impressive completion rate from 12.67% to 13.12% yesterday. Not quite worried yet about running out of games to play.
About 19% (134 games total) for me and that's because I tend to buy some just for collection, playing them comes second place.

I've been making an effort to play them these days instead of gazing at the shelf. :D

Well, I'd feel at least better for spending that money on all those games I haven't yet played. That's why the last half of this year, I've barely bought any games (or none at all, actually. Only got those free GOG games I think).

I understand the feeling which is why I try to see my total gaming expenses (several hundred $$ in 2014) as a sort of flatrate or subscription, makes it much easier to not treat duds as bad investments. Plus I use the old excuse of "I'm buying all these games for when I'm poor and it's cold outside". Interesting thing is that I'm already poor and buying games isn't making me any less poor, plus when it's cold outside I don't necessarily play more games but end up buying even more because what's more comforting against the cold than doing a little shopping on GOG :)

But that's actually the problem. This is a pretty common thing and I just made a pact with myself that I'll have to play more games before getting new ones (well, except for the Kickstarters that are still coming in and maybe some GAs...).
And these last months I didn't have time at all for playing games, so the only games I'm getting are the ones from the Secret Santa :D
