When quoting someone, the avatar it displays is the one the user had when he made that post. Have had fun with that in a code hunt once.

timppu: One more genre:

Brainless summer blockbuster movie: G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
- I'm surprised how much I liked this brainless action movie. I wasn't expecting anything from it.
I LOVE this movie and I honestly can't think of a better way to label it than you did. Good call! Thumbs up. :D
Sci-Fi: Blade Runner

Crime: The Untouchables

Thriller: Devil's Advocate

War: Stalingrad

Drama: Tie between "For whom the bell tolls" and "Life is beautiful"

Superhero: The Avengers or The Dark Knight

Horror: Evil Dead 3 (yes, I know, it really is a comedy. But it still is great!)

Musical: Rocky Horror Picture Show! (It's just a jump to the left...)

Animated: Ghost in the shell

Comedy: Here it's actually three movies, where I can't decide which is best: "Rien à déclarer" and "Bienvenu chez les Ch'tis" (both by Dany Boon) and THE classic German comedy: "Die Feuerzangenbowle"

Fantasy: The Lord of the Rings

Martial Arts: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

timppu: Sci-Fi: RoboCop
- I presume it counts as scifi?
- What the heck, now I found out there is a remake in the making too? I'm 95% sure it isn't as good as the original, since the sequels sucked too. But maybe the visual effects kick ass.
On topic, I agree with your Sci-Fi pick. Maybe I would also list Alien but I consider it more horror than Sci-Fi, although I do appreciate the gritty and more realistic truckers in space brand of Sci-Fi Alien presents than most other Sci-Fi movies. That's a big reason why I like the original Star Wars too.

Off topic (which is what I really wanted to reply to), I was actually looking forward to the RoboCop remake several years ago when Darren Aronofsky was slated to direct it. I wanted to see what he would do with a gritty, brutal movie like that. He's into making more organic films instead of shiny visual effects and shallow story. Not that shiny CGI means a movie will be shallow, but I think people get what I mean. I really wanted to see what he would do with a big budget in a movie like RoboCop.

I read that there were disagreements about pressure from the studio to make the movie a glitzy 3D action movie, but probably the biggest reason for Aronofsky leaving the project was that MGM is going through very rough times. I think it all depends on how well The Hobbit does if they can continue other projects like RoboCop (probably a big reason why they wanted The Hobbit split into three different films). Right now the RoboCop remake is just meh for me since Aronofsky isn't going to direct anymore. I'll go see it if it ever gets made but I won't be expecting too much. Maybe that's a good thing though.

edit: I'd list Moon too. I suck at these threads because I can't pick just one.

Man there is a lot of Blade Runners here, and I never seen this film and my awareness of it was fading.

Is it really that good?

It's pretty much my favorite movie. Not sure how a modern audience would see it though, since it is pretty slow and abstract.
