Sitting around the other day with a few people, and having nothing really to do, we decided to bust out the good ole board games. Played some Monopoly for a few hours, and had a really good time. Really forgot how fun some board games can be, with all the other entertainment options I have, really don't get around to playing them to often.

Monopoly, Clue, Life and Trouble are probably my favorite board games of all time.

So, what is your favorite board game?
Monopoly, because you can rob the banker

Advanced Civilization. (The original one by Avalon Hill, not the Sid Meier boardgame.)

I learned about the basegame (Civilization) at a convention and was immediately fascinated by its complexity. I had always wanted grand strategy games that weren't as boringly simple, combat-focused, and luck-dependent as (say) Risk, and Civilization made that dream come true.

I have a few favourites, in no particular order here are some:

Dungeons & Dragons: Castle Ravenloft (I am a huge Ravenloft campaign fan)
Arkham Horror
Least I Could Do
1313 Dead End Drive
Clue
Guess Who?
Connect 4
Trivial Pursuit
Risk!
Chess
and Jenga
I've not played many, but I really like Risk. :)
Haven't played a board game in ages but I have fond memories of Rail Baron, which we modified in a minor way to make a fun change.
Chess.

If you know a geek, beating them at chess is just pure joy. Obviously it's a relative scale of geek compared to yourself, but the point is that there's no excuse, no bad day, just beaten.
I liked Pictionary and Dragon Strike (1993 edition). But I don't think I've played a board game in more than 15 years.
Diplomacy if you've got a big enough group and enough time. Amazing game XD (not sure it entirely counts as a board game I guess)
Otherwise;
Settlers of Catan
The D&D boardgames are enjoyable as boardgames, don't expect them to resemble tabletop though. Still remarkably fun.
A whole list of other stuff ;)
risk legacy
Payday was one of my favourites when i was younger:

Brass.

Hands down one of my favorites.
For the most part I'm not a fan of overly complex games or any that require long sessions (longer than an hour-and-a-half), but also not ones that are too simple. That said, my favorites are:
Settlers of Catan - with or without Cities & Knights
Ticket to Ride
Carcassonne - basic set without expansions
Ingenious

Also some favorite card games, which I prefer to be simpler:
Guillotine
Bang!
Fluxx
Gang of Four
Naked Twister
