I saw a trailer for this film many, many years ago maybe around 99.
It starts with two people in a car driving at night (I think a man and a woman guy might have glasses and blonde hair). They get a call something about the nuclear missile system crashing, and the system asking for some call sigh which the man identifies as Richard Nixon (cut to shot of Richard Nixon coming out of a plane)

Then cuts to a montage of soldiers dodging traps in a jungle trying to reset a computer which is still on somewhere in a far off country.

I thought I had dreamed it till I got talking with a friend at a BBQ and she is sure she has seen the same trailer, I have searched online but to no luck does anyone know what this film is?

This is a list of all films with Nixon as a character, if it helps - http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0027234/
thanks, I can't see anything like it on the list, it might of been stock footage...
Was it an Italian action/horror film by any chance?I have a memory of a film with soldiers in the jungle dodging traps but it was a lot older than 99 I think.
I don't think it was Italian, pretty sure I saw it in a trailer at the cinema with American actors (which doesn't mean it's not Italian...).
I do recall a movie where a 'geek' team (i think) escorted by soldiers goes off to some jungle to reset a glitched out computer controlled missile system. I don't so much remember traps, as in tradicional traps, but i do remember they had to dodge or bypass or hack the defence systems scattered around outside the building they had to get in to to hack the main computer. I think there were aditional defenses inside the building too. It's quite a blurr though...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0196221/ ? it was an absolutely atrocious movie though...
that's it!
I also found the trailer: http://www.videodetective.com/movies/trailers/terminal-countdown-trailer/857083

it looks bad but it has been annoying me for about 10 years!

Yeah, that's the one i was thinking. No wonder it's a blurr ;)
Lol i have that on DVD
It seems it was straight to video in 99 in the uk, so I'm now wondering where the hell I saw the trailer as I could of only been about 12 at the time.
You probably saw it on a video rental. They used to chuck all the straight to video film trailers onto rental and make you wait 5 mins for your film. Or my mum did at least as she would not fast forward past them in case somethng "good" popped up.

Now the big question is should I watch it, or just let the imagination of a better film live on.
Lou Gossett Jr and Malcom McDowell in the same film. What could possibly go wrong?
Its Admiral Tolwyn!
