First a small info:
I recently watched a lot of episodes of friends (basically whole season 10 and bunch from season nine. eps i missed few years ago)
and i finished Mirror's edge recently
and I been playing Evil Genius whole day recently (not sure whether it has anything to do with my dream tough. world destruction maybe?)
My dream... from ten minutes ago:
I am with Jeniffer Anistion :) swimming in some pool high up. it ain't technically a pool but a water way,
Suddenly she is pulled by huge stream. i manage to catch her but the whole thing collapses and we fell to the ground...
I manage to survive somehow but i don't see her anymore
and now this is where the fun part of the dream starts:
Behind me i see a highway collapsing... the pylons breaking cars falling down.
Debris start falling towards me so I run in opposite direction.
Under another highway
which begun collapsing too...
So now i have debris flying in every direction as i run. I stop and hide behind a car and see crap flying over my head and smashing everything around me. very realistic if i might add.
Stuff stops and i see the destruction around me and i run away... when it begins a new.
I run while behind me earth cracks building are destroyed... Now stuff gets a bit fuzzy but i do remember lots of running through collapsing city.
at one point i am in the streets where a bee transport collapsed. it is covered full of bees who fly everywhere btw. i try to pass through that 'mine' field but few of those bees land on me. manage to get rid of them but one stung me. (not allergic or anything so it is a nuisance for me that's it)
later on i am in the building with one wall completely collapsed. I see underground train station... clearly visible from the building. collapsed railways and even trains.
then i took a jump from the building and grab a hook on the side of the building on opposite side of the road. you know ala ME.
slide down and i meet apparently a semi-friend of mine. a chopper pilot with a working chopper.
I try to convince him to leave the city but... he is completely drunk. doesn't care.
but i finally forcefully put him in the cockpit and i sit behind him (two person chopper btw) and we fly away...
now a scenery change.
i see a big fancy house near water. It was some generic black rapper house or something :)
a water recedes and then floods the lawn. not much.
the rapper says not to worry Jesus will protect him.
a water recedes again and then floods the lawn and the house. much stronger this time.
people fall down some almost drown, including the rapper.
then another wave comes and pulls everyone deeper inland.
Including the rapper. the waves of water crash through neighborhood pulling everything and everyone with them.
the rapper is being drown asking Jesus why it is happening to him and actually gets a response. not sure what tough...
the rapper is pulled to some river... still alive the powerful stream knocks him from side to side. Then he grabs a sword someone left on the edge of the river...
he tries to stab the ground with it so he can hold to something while being pulled by water.
at first he fails but then with great strength he stabs the ground and pulls himself from the water into unflooded solid ground.
I just know i thought it looked awesome although i cannot picture it anymore.
and that's the end. I woke up permanently this time. Some details are fuzzy as i woke up in the middle of the dream (and even remembered that it seems it is like 2012 aka the city blowing up and stuff) and if i don't go through whole dream again in my head i tend to forget it...
then i went back to sleep and continue where i left off.
Not sure what Freud would say about that.
What are your recent dreams? any thing weird, interesting?
I had this weird dream a few days ago where I could fly and I escaped from some sort of detainment center in China. Then I met a couple whose child had died for some reason.
I have been watching a LOT of CNN, it seems.
On a related note, here's why we can't remember our dreams or why the details are fuzzy or why you might even accidentally make stuff up in your dream.

I usually have crazy action dreams like lukaszthegreat described (often I can jump really high and most of my dreams at some point involve swimming or some kind of water feature for some reason). Last night was different. Lots of going around to different places, hitching rides, interacting with people and near the end I was talking to a friend of mine whom I haven't seen in 9 years and there was a moment and she and I kissed on the lips. I completely did not see that coming, but it felt nice :)
I rarely remember the contents of dreams yet I can certainly recall having dreamt certain dreams before as they are happening (and can remember at least that much when I wake). I can very vividly remember specific parts of some dreams that I had over 20 years ago (the contents of which aren't really suitable for here). And can remember very clearly the contents of a house from a dream I had about a month ago, in which I was meeting with my parents who I haven't seen since August. The house isn't even their house so that's not the reason why I remember it.
I can also remember dreams where I was able to fly, but I haven't had such a dream (and been able to remember it) for years.

My experience seems to contradict what this says.
I hardly ever remember my dreams when I wake up. However, sometimes an entire dream comes back at me at once. I might be cooking, shaving, walking somewhere, and suddenly I remember every detail of a dream and I think "I dreamed this a while ago" and I even have a rough idea about how long ago I had that dream (or at least I think I have, might be making stuff up). Can be days, months, even years. Sometimes I remember a dream and I know I've remembered it before, but lost it again. Dreams I remember almost entirely or not at all, so if I forget a dream, it's gone completely (no fragments).
On the other hand, memory is a funny thing and maybe I just glitch. For example, of flashbulb memories (like what you were doing when you heard about a significant event) people tend to state to remember then very clearly and vividly. However, when actually testing how correct those supposedly clear and vivid memories are after a few years, they are pretty much equally prone to errors as any other memory. You're just convinced you remember it very clearly.

Hey, I have that too! Sometimes I even dream the exact same thing over and over, over the course of a few months. It's pretty weird.
never had the same dream twice.
and never had a nightmare.
i did have few dreams when i got hurt in one way or another but i never 'lose' in a dream. so even if i for example got hit in the face and i actually feel pain in the dream, the next thing will surely be me ripping the puncher's head off.
never got scared, or be afraid...
the closest thing i had was when i was falling off a plane, no parachute and was totally calm...
before hitting the ground i asked myself WTF i am doing on a plane... i am in my aunt's apartment sleeping on a sofa.
so i woke up. calm and relaxed.
my brother and I used to work at a White Hen Pantry (convenience store chain, not sure if it's in US only) about 15 years ago.
Even though I haven't worked there in a long time, I still have dreams that I was scheduled for work there for a few weeks, but I had forgotten that I even worked there so I didn't show up. Then I have to apologize to the owner and say " sorry I just forgot I was on the schedule please don't fire me".
I brought up my dreams to my brother awhile ago, and he said "holy shit I have those same exact dreams too!" which I thought was kinda weird.( why do we both dream of White Hen only and don't have these types of dreams for other jobs we've worked at?)
Does anybody else have this type of dream about their ex-jobs?
Most I don't remember (and nothing recent), some that I do include:~
~ The Sun, The planet Saturn and Earth's Moon in battle against... something (somehow on the moon).
~ Possessed people, who were actually puppets jumping out of the ground under a pergola, screaming obscenities and using telekinesis.
~ Going to work and playing solitaire all day
~ Trying to cross a large chasm, by moving across a rope, getting half way, somehow finding a blanket/towel thing and failing to hang it across it's middle on the rope, falling to the chasm floor (that! woke me up fast)
~ A dragon, in human form, doing the dishes in a kitchen. Which got boring, so I went outside and had a BBQ lunch with people I did not know.
~ Lots of stationary clockwork and gears forming a building, and just exploring the place.
~ Things I can't say here, but it involved bathing in lava.
~ Work, and more work. Because I just can't escape it apparently
Most dreams I do remember are in 3rd person, either character or perspective. I don't remember a dream that involved myself.
And what was likely a night terror (according to people here and a little research) not long ago, which I remember none of but caused me to jump up out of bed, to start swearing and stumbling into the door.

Your dreams sound like something out of a Danny Boyle film. You should sell him your life story.
I had a weird dream the other night where I was in a school running away from a serial killer who was violently butchering people on his way after me. I locked him in the school where he grew to be 5x his normal size, and when the principal opened the door against everyones wishes, he grabbed her and bit off her head, and then threw her corpse down to the ground.
After that, I dreamt (in the same dream mind you) that I was the one doing the indiscrimate slaughter, only I wasn't chasing anyone. i was just slicing people in half with a giant machete for no reason.
Last time I play Soldier of Fortune before bed.

You should give an interview about this. I can already see the headlines:
"GAMER SECRETLY DREAMS OF INDISCRIMINATE SLAUGHTER"
Sex.
Some recent dreams:
Blasting some people with the Disintegrator Ray from Destroy All Humans, complete with the skeletons turning to ash.
Numerous false awakenings in a row.
A few nightmares, of sorts. Not scary, but bad. For some reason I'd get incredibly angry and start smashing things and saying horrible things to people I know. After I wake up, it's a great relief to know those things never happened.
At least a couple times in a dream I've been walking around my hometown, Gosford. I notice a place I recognise from Deus Ex, and recall that a section of the game was based on it, then wonder why I never told anyone on the relevant forums. Some time after I wake up, I recall the dream, and of course realise that there is no such section in the game.
A handful of times, after playing some games for waaaay too long, I've had hallucinations (been a long time though). I wake up, but with the light off, I have nothing to ground me in reality, so whatever the weird dream is, it persists. When I first played the Doom shareware I was at it for hours. That night, I kept seeing somewhat jerkily animated images from the game. Another time I had spent much too long playing Turok 2, and kept seeing the second level surrounding me until I kept repeating to myself that the N64 had been turned off hours beforehand.
Several years ago, I played through a Wolfenstein-themed Doom addon that has you fight your way into and then through a castle floor by floor to get to a treasure room. Then you fight your way back down, with barricades erected and new enemies to hinder your escape. I must have played it for quite a while, because that night I had another hallucination. I thought that either I was being attacked by a Nazi castle or I was a Nazi castle. I'll never know which.
On a few occasions I've had false memories from dreams, if I happen to recall a fairly rational segment out of context from the rest of the dream. Most of the time I quickly remember it was part of a dream.
Finally, semi-related: I get the odd bout of Sleep Paralysis. I can sometimes open my eyes, and look around. Once or twice it's kicked in as I was half-asleep, and seemed to be triggered by an action in a dream.
Shania Twain. Oh yeah. That's all I need to say.
