It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

StingingVelvet: You're either doing something wrong or using the wrong program then. The mod I use you just find the install folder and type in your desired resolution, then hit patch. It's that simple.
Or he has an Intel graphics chip.

RSnyden: Planescape Torment also plays on widescreen.

edit: Scratch that. It requires a patch to play in wide-screen. It's not out of the box.....
Haha LOVE that game. Top of my list of great games. I played it once/twice a year for years, there.

Not about to mess about with it on this monitor though. That much crazy I don't need ;)

MetisRebel: I've tried more than a dozen times to get the icewind series and the baldur's gate series running with the gibberlings+ mods etc etc.

While arcanum was just one added file unzipped to get it running--all of them were ridiculous with a long list of instructions and I have never been able to get them working in widescreen. Frankly it would take less time to just jerry rig my smaller monitor.

So I would dispute that it is "insanely easy to do".

I used gibberlings. Worked fine on arcanum. Couldn't get the others running.

Arcanum is a completely different engine. You want the Infinity Engine widescreen mod.

I followed all the instructions from the gog instructions on how to run them all and nada. Frankly, I'd rather waste my time playing something than futzing around trying to get a game running that I've played before, at this point, anyway.

My question was "how to run widescreen outta the box?"--not "how to run baldur's gate?" so kinda off topic here.

Thanks for the advice, anyway.

I'm not trying to insult you, but if running a simple mod like the IE widescreen mod is too much hassle for you, PC gaming in general must be a pretty huge pain in the ass.
