So all of us gamers have fantasized about making a game, or maybe something like "it would be cool if we had this and that in games or maybe why don't we have that kind of games"

So whats your fantasy of a perfect game, Setting,Plot, characters gameplay All the shabang

Why i ask this, you ask?

Because i am thinking about making a game and your input will help me decide what kind of game to make, i got a few ideas, but with your help it will give me more unique stuff to work on.

So help a gamer out and tell me about the game you would love to play.

I think it would be something along the line of }this, but in game form.
I'd like to play a RPG/adventure game hybrid that heavily relies on good story-telling and a fascinating and unusual setting, as well as offering ample opportunity for exploration and 'roleplaying' different characters (meaning conversation options are more varied and interesting than a choice between good and evil, benign and brutal; and different characters and decisions would lead to very different outcomes, enough to change the whole gaming experience on replay, not just a few quests).

It would also feature opportunities for character building, inventory management and (strategic, turn-based or action) combat but they would be more or less optional, without slowing the game down for players who'd find them too distracting from the story-telling/exploration aspects. Exploration, combat, altruistic behaviour would be rewarding, but other playstyles would be, too, and just as well. The reward would have no impact on the players' decisions any more. You don't get better items, more xp or gold by acting in a specific pre-scribed way, only a different turn in the story or your character development. And it would be very unlikely even for uninformed players to run into a dead end.

Basically a game like Planescape Torment with a much larger inventory and even less need to fight, combined with a touch of Arx Fatalis atmosphere and immersive graphics. One that might require you to read a lot in-game but not before playing, and all of the text would be gripping and well-written, no boring peasant or city guide conversations, no clichéd fantasy stories. Something that would appeal to both casual players and hardcore RPG veterans alike, because it's so gripping and immersive.

Oh, and it would come with a powerful but comparatively easy-to-use editor like NWN. :D

I don't have very high hopes for such a game to happen though. I'm well aware how hard it is to create a game with both a gripping plot and a lot of freedom for players, and with a lot of decisions branching off to different paths through the game. And that's provided there would be enough talent and will in the gaming industry to try and create such a game.
