Ealier this night I lay myself to sleep and went of to the land of dreams, when suddenly I woke up and was as awake as I'd ever been before. Now it seems I can't fall asleep again.
I know, that if I try to fall asleep now I will only be rolling around in my bed for a couple of hours.
It's not a problem that occours very often, but when it does, it's so annoying and I will be tired the next day.
What do you do when you don't feel tired at all, but should most deffinatly sleep?
I just lie in bed and try to think positive thoughts. :-) Or use the time to think of things that I'm usually too busy to think about during the day. At least it keeps my brain occupied with something other than "Dammit, why can't I sleep?", which never helps.
masturbate and then take some nyquil and eat some mashed potatoes and turkey

I watch videos on YouTube
Not much advice on what to do when you wake up and are wide awake except to maybe tell you to stay away from caffeine at night.
But I CAN offer you some advice on what to do to fall asleep to start. Watch an old black and white television show. Something you remember from looong ago even if you weren't born yet. I like to watch The Andy Griffith Show on Netflix. It usually puts me right to sleep.
I stay here, and read the forum :D
Read, play video games, watch late night TV.
Read the Bible for 10 minutes; fapping optional (though it helps).

The problem with this is I lost my copy of the Bible since moving house, and I haven't bothered to pick up a new copy since.

I usually find reading or watching a movie (Mostly both since I've been going through anime and Foreign films) will help me go to bed easier then usual. If I wake up I'll go grab one of my One Piece sets or something like that and watch a episode of that. Usually I find I can nod right back off with a new episode of something done.
for me either
1. Have a drink as Alcohol makes me sleepy nothing too strong just a beer but not watery beer like Budwiser and crap like that

2. if she's home and up for it, sex with the wife
3. watch something on netflix maybe Futurama or American Dad or even a web series
4. read a book
5. do some writing

I put either music or a podcast on (or longish youtube video) and bam! its morning!!
I read the Wheel of Time, and that usually works after a paragraph. If the symptoms persist, I read Emile Zola (which will put me into a coma for a couple of days).
Try to keep away from the internet & t.v.
Read alittle if you wish.
Try to cut out all sources of light, maybe take some melatonin.
The thing I just found that has helped me more than anything else the last twenty years I've had sleep issues has been earplugs. Try some. Cuts out all sound, & cheaper than pills or anything else really.
I put some music on and stare at the ceiling.
Some people count sheep.

I count reasons I love GOG.
