When a transaction fails during the holiday, and that sentimental note you wrote gets deleted/lost. Pretty much feels like a grinchy type slap to the face. *shrug* Quality of my future ordering experience will be forever tinged with doubt.

If your lost note was intended to be here on the GOG forums, I find that I can recover lost posts (for a little while, at least) using the Firefox history menu. You may have several Add New Post entries in your recently closed windows submenu. Try them all. (Doing so may be a little tricky, as the menu entries tend to reorder themselves as you reopen the windows.)
I think it may have something to do with the underscore in your name, that you can't find your post.

That can be circumvented to some extent :)

Very handy info :) I have saved every decent length post or PM just in case after learning the hard way so many times.

I don't think he's talking about a forum post guys. His gift order got lost, and thus his note to go with it.

To be fair to GOG - everywhere has transaction failures. Steam have screwed up for me before, and support took ages to sort it. Also, one of my colleagues ordered a (material) gift from a chain shop in the UK, only to be told on the day it was supposed to arrive, that there had been a stock error and the order could not be satisfied. So it's not just digital that goes wrong.

On those rare occasions I write something long and save-worthy, CTRL-A, CTRL-C just in case. Or compose in Notepad and then paste it in.
No the message, was part of a purchase, which didn't go through for who knows what kind of reasons. I don't remember the exact wording, sometimes I'm a little more careful. But I don't think one paragraph is too much to cache for an attempted gift purchase - especially during the holidays.

Purchase, being a transaction, for those of you who were suggesting I was mushy on the forums.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's just sort of public. This was a personal message.

Sorry to hear your order got lost, it is frustrating. As I said, I'm afraid it is not limited to GOG or digital purchases. The bright side is that it's easier to clean up when it's digital as you can just buy it again and leave a support ticket if there's any unfulfilled order.

Hope it was a good game you were getting the special person. My guesses would be (in order) "To The Moon", "Syberia", "The Little Big Adventure". Obviously not expecting you to say, but if it wasn't any of those, get them one of those too :).

Not sure why your suggesting a person frustrated with ordering games ... order more games but while your on the topic why didn't you mention Grim Fandango? I mean it's your profile pic. - . -

Because it's not here (see other thread in which I've ranted at someone for posting a long list of desired games and not including it).

As I said, it's a shame your order hasn't worked out, but don't let that sour you to the site. These things happen to all sites, it would be a shame for you to miss out on the gems that are here.

I assume you're reacting to my low forum count. I have gotten quite a few of the gems and a few real turkeys from GOG. My complaint has nothing to do with the quality of the games. But an inability to reliably personalize a gift. I apologize for engaging in conversation with you. Even sarcastically. I did not mean to tangent.

The game in question was Sam & Max Hit the Road. A triumph of humor and point and click absurdity which I thought would help a friend through what has been a trying month, and year, as a way to unavoidably experience endorphins when the day to day makes it very hard for the person. The message was too that effect. But, much fucking better and less computer.

This was not meant to be a thread about what games are better or worse, but communication inabilities. If I was unclear I apologize for my very failed attempts at brevity, it is difficult for me.

I did not mean to upset you. Any offence I apologise for. You were correct that the forum count led me to the incorrect conclusion that you were new (we do get a lot of newbies complaining).

Have a nice Christmas,
Will

Thank you. I will endeavor to do so! May the year end on a high note for you and kin.

That really sucks and I feel the same when it happens when I write email to others. Not keeping tabs but maybe a quarter of the time I try to send a long email, it takes time to think...and think...and think until finally it just hangs there for about 10 min plus and I can't even attempt a copy and paste to a word document. Writing a long personal email from memory (if I tried print screen it'd only capture part of the message for long ones) is one of the worst experiences in trying to be sincere to someone. You get the words just right and it seems like the best thing you wrote to that person for awhile and then it gets ruined by some type of transition error when sending. Kind of like having a pen pal from a different country in which you send handwritten letters but they get lost due to some type of error in the delivery process. Well I try to mitigate it now by saving a personal copy of long items written until I know it's record via my sent email box then I delete it. Sorry to hear about such experiences and I would definitely feel the same if it ever happened to me for gift items. I hope you have more uplifting experiences with gift giving in the future. :)

Ah that is a real shame :( I know what it is like to craft a message that is perfect in a moment and then lose it to an internet hiccup. The only way I get around that is to ensure that I have everything important saved elsewhere before I post or send it, even if it is with a simple Control+C to copy it to the clipboard. With writing I have moved to doing my work online now and keep back-ups both offline and online.

Out of curiosity, is your forum name related to synesthesia?
