Charge into the weekend with [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/nordic_charge]this selection of all-time greats from Nordic Games, all 50% off this weekend!

Gothic II Gold Edition offers everything that should be present in an adventure RPG--massive and interactive world, non-linear story, excellent atmosphere, lovable and dislikeable NPCs, and finally, the chance to do everything how you please: as a ruthless killer, a protective paladin, or a neutral character. You can play this game over and over again, exploring new possibilities and quests each time (especially with the Night of the Raven expansion bundled). Once you’re done with saving the world, fight more threats and complete more quests in Gothic 3 and Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods. All Gothic titles published by Nordic Games are $4.99, this weekend only.

In case boring games give you headache, Painkiller Black Edition will pump you up with insane amounts of adrenaline, once insane amounts of enemies straight from hell will try (and fail) to stop you from having some fun. Everything about this FPS is great: masterfully designed environments, variety of demonic minions, 14 incredible weapons, including the famous gun that “shoots shurikens with lightning”, and gargantuan boss battles. Black Edition includes Painkiller and expansion pack Battle out of Hell. If Painkiller charged you a cent for every bullet fired, you’d be broke after saying “I haven’t had that much fun since Heretic and Quake”. Fortunately, Painkiller Black Edition is available on GOG.com for only $4.99 until Monday, April 23rd at 11.59 p.m. EDT.

Spellforce: Platinum includes the original Spellforce: The Order of Dawn and both the expansions - Spellforce: The Breath of Winter and Spellforce: Shadow of the Phoenix. Spellforce is a great blend of the action and tactics of an RTS with an immerse role-playing experience. Lead your armies through spectacular battles and experience thrilling adventures. Mixing RTS and RPG may be tricky but Spellforce succeeds on so many levels that two fantastic sequels: Spellforce 2: Shadow Wars and Spellforce 2: Dragon Storm were created and, luckily for gamers, are both available on GOG.com. Get the complete Spellforce collection 50% off, while each of the games is $4.99.

Dark Fall: The Journal and the sequel Dark Fall: Lights Out will provide a few decent scares, especially because both supernatural adventures are available for $2.99 each. If you enjoy military simulations grab Panzer Elite SE, extremely historically accurate simulation with lots upon lots of equipment specifications. The Guild Gold Edition, on the other hand, will train you to use blackmail, kidnapping, sabotage or buying your way into a higher position in the government as means to simple earn some more money. Find out how to become a businessman in the late Middle Ages for $4.99.

Check all the titles from Nordic Games available this week and pick your favorite, but remember that this offer ends next Monday, April 23rd on 11.59 p.m. EDT.

ZivilSword: This seems to be the only reasonable edition if you want to have the trilogy and if you want to play it original, i.e. in German.

jpolastre: That's not an option for those of us who do not, you know... speak german. Like me :)
So while I won't get any game of the Gothic series - at least not this time - I thank GoG for providing them for us.

I am getting Nations and Neighbours from hell, tho. I wanted some silly game to lift the mood.
Now, is alien nations worth buying, since I'll have the sequel?
No, no, a thousand times no! (The game had some good ideas, so it's entirely possible that Nations Gold is OK or even good, but some horrible flaws [core game issues, not bugs] make Alien Nations painfully slow and frustrating.) See the second (currently) review on the game page ("Painfully slow, sometimes frustrating") for my detailed review [ http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/alien_nations#reviews=1 ], but the gist is that some truly awful design decisions re: worker prioritization and mission design guarantee that everything is way more drawn out than it needs to be, without being actually challenging [thanks to terrible AI]. Add some control issues and insufficient feedback, and you have pretty much a worst-case design for an RTS . . . and this is coming from someone who prefers his strategy games slower, finding multiplayer StarCraft (1 at least) too fast and busy to manage well. Anyway, I played through the whole game to write a fair review to save you from making the same mistake . . . stay away!!

". . . it's a bad sign when you complete a game by letting it play itself for half an hour (or longer!)"

Edit:
. . . reading the reviews for Nations Gold suggests that they may not have fixed some of the core issues, particularly the lack of a speed-up ability to get through long development periods. However, I've not played Nations Gold, so they may have improved the other mechanics to make this less horrible than it was in Alien Nations.

A few opinions please:
-Ive never played Gothic, though I played Risen and loved it, should I go for it?
-Is it true that the Gothic games NEVER go on sale and I should bite the bullet and get them?
-Is the Gothic 3 expansion, ummm....worth it as an individual game, like if you dont consider it a Gothic game is it decent?
-An opinion for Aquanox 2, Im I losing something gameplay wise if I pass over the first one?
-An opinion on Chaser please?

Bear in mind Im kinda short on money ehwn answering, and thanks, great community as always!!

Fred_DM: lol DotEmu had the same promo a couple of weeks ago, except for the fact that DotEmu has multilingual editions. i'm gonna have to pass. i'm not going to play Gothic 2 in English.

also, GetGames has the same promo over the weekend. multilingual editions, too.
Lol.....every time GOG has a sale or new release 9 times out of 10 you come on saying how it isn't good enough or can be had for cheaper elsewhere.

If I didn't know better i'd think you were a competitor shill....at the least I question why you even frequent GOG in the first place if you don't like the deals/products here. -_-

keeveek: I have everything interesting in that promo. But hanks anyway!
Hanks to you too, boyo! :D

So...Go for Gothic 1 or 2.Or both.They are GREAT.Go for them.But please,please for god's sake don't buy the G3 expansion.
Gothic 3 is a possibility but I suggest you to buy and play the first two first.
"Get Games" also has a Nordic Charge weekend promo. There IS a conspiracy behind this, no matter what GOG does, someone else does it as well or effs it up.

jimbkman: What happened to the 30-70% deals depending on how many you ordered? Nordic Charge was on sale here for 70% and could've got the whole lot for under $40. I missed it by an hour 'cause they ended early..was a one day shot..was Pissed. Nordic charge is about the only Fantasy RPG and strategy games that I don't have here on GOG. If I buy the ones I really wanted at the 50% it would be higher then getting all of 'em for 70%. Wish they'd bring that back with the games you own counting towards bringing the scale up.
Then more people would whine that it wasn't fair....etc.....(And btw, are you telling me 50% discount isn't good enough? :\)

It's just competition. I don't see how that's a bad thing. I remember there being several times when steam and gamersgate had identical sales, and nobody complained about that.
I'm a bit of a completionist however after reading reviews and opinions about Gothic 3 Forsaken Gods I figure probably best to skip it, and buy something else. I have all the other games in this promo. Shame the same publisher doesn't own Gothic 1, I'd buy it on sale.

OptimusHun: Chaser is on sale third time since released on GOG and - again - in a bad time for me. :(

Curunauth: You're not missing much; I suggest spending your money elsewhere, on almost any of the other FPS games on offer here, even a mess like Second Sight. It is very bland and has little to recommend it, plus a hearty helping of significant design flaws. (My detailed thoughts are the third review here, at the moment: http://www.gog.com/gamecard/chaser#reviews=4 ; the lead review highlights some of the same points.) If you do get it, look through the control configuration to find your adrenaline key - it slows down time, which is incredibly useful and completely left out of the tutorial.
Thanks the heads up, but I decided to like this game when popped up and read the plot. sounds interesting and the game feels like those budget game from Ctiy. Yeah, i like Terrosits Takedwo: Coverst Ops, Alpha Prime, Chrome and even Judge Dredd.
It's time to get Forsaken Gods I suppose.

pizzapicante27: -Is it true that the Gothic games NEVER go on sale and I should bite the bullet and get them?
I can't answer the rest of the questions but on this one I'd like to point out that only the first Gothic (almost) never goes on sale, different publisher and stuff.
Gothic 2 and 3 (and even 3FG) have been on sale a few times so far.
Nice promo, I bought the Painkiller Black Edition and Neighbours from Hell Compilation.
What about Gothic 1? It's surprisingly expensive considering its age. It could at least be part of the Nordic Charge pack. :-)
Gothic 3 Forsaken Gods bought, it was the only game in the promo I didn't have already. Low expectations, so maybe it'll surprise me positively.

I'm not sure if it has ever been part of any promo discount, at least it wasn't even in the last Christmas sale.

Different publisher.
