1 Weekend Promo, 2 fantastic franchises, 14 classic games, $26.91 for the complete collection, 100s of hours of unforgettable gaming

all games from Wing Commander and Ultima series available on GOG.com are discounted by 50%. You have the chance to buy Wing Commander 4, or Ultima VII: the Complete Edition for only $2.99 until Monday, June 4 11:59 PM EDT.

Ultima is a series of fantasy RPGs created by Richard Garriott (a.k.a. Lord British more) than 30 years ago. The main story of Ultima universe, which takes place in the worlds of Sosaria and, later, Britannia, follows the unnamed protagonist (known only as the Stranger or later as the Avatar, an incarnation of virtue) through three “Ages”: The Age of Darkness (Ultima I-III), The Age of Enlightenment (Ultima IV-VI), and The Age of Armageddon (Ultima VII-IX). It’s one of the most influential RPG series, recognized for open-ended gameplay, in-depth morality system exploring mature themes like racism and xenophobia, and a rich and detailed world. Whether you want to try the original trilogy, visit thousands of colorful places and characters in Ultima 4+5+6, play through Ultima VII: The Complete Edition--arguably the best in series, find your way back home in Ultima VIII: Gold Edition or complete Ultima Underworld 1 and 2, the first first-person RPGs with true 3D environments, all these titles are available for only $2.99 this weekend on GOG.com.

Wing Commander is a series of 3D space combat simulators, described by the games’ creator Chris Roberts as "World War II in space.” In this series, you follow pilots of the Terran Confederation in their fight against the aggressive feline Kilrathi. Introduce yourself to the epic military space conflict in Wing Commander 1+2, play as Col. Christopher "Maverick" Blair (starred by Mark Hamill) and watch amazing FMV cut-scenes in Wing Commander 3: Heart of the Tiger, enjoy fast, action-packed, and varied space combat in the most expensive video game of its era Wing Commander: Privateer.

In addition to that, because the Wing Commander series plays so much better with a joystick, we’ve approached the guys from Logitech and they were kind enough to offer a few awesome Logitech Extreme™ 3D Pro joysticks to our users. Leave a comment below for a chance to win 1 of 3 logitech joysticks. You can also enter a similar joystick-winning contests on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.

Become the Ultimate Commander (THE ULTIMMANDER!) and buy the complete collection of EA’s Most Famous Classic Series for only $26.91, this weekend on GOG.com.
I'd love a logitech joystick =)
Wow, this is gotta be one of the best deals, for those who like these sorts of games, in a long time. I personally have no connection with any of these games and thus have unfortunately no need to buy any of these amazing deals. But I could of course use one of those Logitech Joysticks for my one true love: Incoming!

tburger: Jeez – Hall sensors in joystick from 1998? And they wrote my T16000M incorporates state-of-the-art technology :-P. How much did this joy cost when it was released? It’s kinda depressing when I see a another (MS and their optical sensors) example how better technology is replaced by worse one.
I don't remember how much the WingMan Interceptor originally cost, sorry. Bought both of mine used for dirt cheap. However, the $50 to $100 range sounds about right, probably closer to the $100 end.

Also note that its Hall sensors are a bit weird: instead of the can type that's generally used for modding Thrustmaster hardware (had a HOTAS Cougar and RCS decked out with 'em before), they're triangular rockers floating over some PCB traces. This is why I haven't modified either stick with a BU0836 board; it would take extensive gimbal modification and new sensors.

Hall effect sensors actually aren't that new of a technology, though still sadly uncommon. Want to know something else from roughly that timeframe that uses Hall sensors? The Sega Saturn analog pad, on both the main analog nub and the triggers.
Ultima seriers? Can't resist. In addition, free joystick? Hell yeah :-D
And here I was thinking that if I bought Wing Commander IV that it'd probably lead to me spending a much larger amount getting a joystick to play it with. Fingers crossed this competition with solve that problem for me. :)
Ultima VIII is still missing in my collection.
Haven't played through the predecessors yet, so I don't know.
Well, I still can think about it another day. :)
Both are classic series. I never played Wing Commander with a joystick, but I would if Logitech gave me one for gratis.

RIP Origin :'(
please gog, make me a happy wing commander like i was way back when <3

plavadine: The question I have: If you only had 2.99 (and none of these games) which one would you buy? I would be kind of torn between Ultima 4-6 and Ultima VII. That is a really good deal though. !5 games (16 if you count Ultima 7 as 2 games) for only 26.91.
Ultima's IV & V are probably very difficult to get into these days... Hell, it took me over a decade of trying a dozen times over to complete IV (Finally managed about 7 years ago. One of my proudest gaming moments...) Ultima's VI & VIII are much more modern in feel, and much easier to forgive the graphics, in addition, Ultima VII (And Serpent Isle) has a permanent place in my All Time Top 10 games.

... So I'd say without question, give Ultima VII a whirl first, then if you like it, pick up IV-VI next sale around... (Though IV is a free download anyways, so its really only V & VI).

... Well that or Wing Commander 3 or 4 which are also cracking games.

As a complete newcomer to the Ultima series until this sale, I can solidly agree with your remarks on VII. It does feel a bit dated, but that's mostly in some of the controls and presentation department, the graphics still look sharp (If you can appreciate the beauty of well done sprites), the gameplay seems top notch so far, and it's a bucketload of fun.

Probably not going to replace Final Fantasy VI as my all-time favorite, but definitely going to keep me interested for some time.
I never got a chance to play Wing Comander and I'm just crazy mad about Malcolm McDowell, so...count me in.
Picked up Ultima 8 to finish my Ultima list. Almost bought the wing commander games but by my dial-up calculations I still have 3.5 years worth of games to download from GOG. I guess I could have bought 1+2 but already have privateer and really fancy not playing these until I get a joystick. (hint hint)*

* or maybe I should have another look at hooking up my only post 80s joystick on a n64 controller.
I wouldn't mind picking up WC1 and 2 to have in addition to my boxed copies (WC2 CD was hard to install in DOSBox), but no extras! Without the Secret Missions, Special Operations, and Speech Pack, it's just incomplete.
Wow...I don't think I've ever actually used a joystick on a PC game before. But I'm open to new experiences. ;-)

I must admit, I'm feeling rather conflicted now that I just bought this; all I'm doing is adding to my never ending backlog of games... ^_^

Now I just need the following for my digital game collection:

•Ultima 9
•Worlds of Ultima: Savage Emprire
•Worlds of Ultima: Martian Dreams
•Privateer 2: The Darkening
I missed the Wing Commander series back in the day so I've decided to take a chance on Wing Commander IV and Privateer. I've heard great things about the fourth installment and I love the open-ended concept of Privateer. Now I just need to find time to actually play them.
