Simple suggestion, here: Surely it would be more efficient and constitute more effective advertising if the adverts on the front page -- when I'm logged in, that is -- displayed from a dynamic list that didn't include games I already have on my account.
Just a thought. :)
Yes, but for the people out there who have bought every game on GOG, nothing would display. Which makes it far simpler to just show any game, including ones you own.
Looking on the bright side it seems to be one of the few websites not advertising evony

YES!
I'd photoshop something but it'd be against the terms of service, I'd also need photoshop. Normally I'd suggest we solicit the help of ceemdee to help but I have a feeling we'd get a nice rack topped with banjoman's head

In which case, they wouldn't need anything to be displayed -- and it would have the added bonus of new adverts getting their attention even more than normal, as they'd see the solitary advert appear on their screen and think MUST BUY TO COMPLETE SET AGAIN. :)
Except that one advert would break the page design due to the way it's all been set up.

For the people who have bought everything on GOG, nothing is exactly what should display. Maybe just a "Thanks! You're wonderful! But seriously now... Come back next week. That's next week. Not tomorrow."

There are people who have bought every game this site offers? Seriously?

I highly doubt it. For one thing, they'd have spent longer buying them than playing them.
I haven't bought many, but I take pride when I see a game I've already bought advertised. It reminds me that I'm glad that I bought it.

Couldn't there be placeholder icons that appear in place of empty adverts, then? Icons that only show up once there's no more games to advertise for a given account...

No it isn't. For one thing, continuing to display the products is helpful given the fact that those people can still gift games. Thus, a constant reminder of games that are available can help when it comes time for such people to gift games.
Further to that, other people may be viewing the PC/whatever device they are browsing from at the same time and can then see a selection of games on offer. If they just saw an empty space, they'll get the impression that the site has nothing to sell. That's bad for GOG's image.
The very basic point here though, if it ain't broken, don't fix it. And the display of a few games you may already own, isn't "broken".

Yes.
