monkeydelarge: Don't worry, I wasn't saying Kirk is better than Picard... I have no desire to start such a long and bloody war...
This was like one of the best episodes ever.
Hard to say how one would feel, remember, Picard's from a different time. Humanity in the 24th century might [and probably will] be completelly different. A great episode and a great song.

pimpmonkey2382: I was watching the tng episode, the inner light, and was wondering how the others here would feel in the same situation here. Personally i'd almost be pissed off that I couldn't help the people that I was interacting with the whole time, etc.
I really liked that episode (if it's the one I'm thinking of). Does it make you wonder if you could leave the same - a log of your life for future generations - would you? Ex: Instead of going to the museum to learn about Rome, you can live it.
I think it'd be bittersweet.

On the bright side the probe had a lot nicer memories than the one in Voyagers "Memorial" which gave half the bloody crew PTSD. Gah that ep was bad... "Lets force random passers by to relive butchering these people with no context at all!"

VABlitz: Speaking of Star Trek, I was reading somewhere that it may be coming back to TV. ST: Captain Worf. Here's what a quick web search dug up.
Sounds interesting but I doubt paramount is in a mood to give it a proper series or movie. JJ Abrams went for a retcon with Paramounts permission and in one fell swoop barely gained much of a new audience and alienated the old audience. Paramount hates it's Star Trek fans.

Back on topic, the Picard flute episode is one amazing episode in terms of story, plot, and characterization. I'd be upset if I couldn't help out the family I now had memories of, but you have to remember, even though the memories may seem real, it's just a technological method used to communicate the last days of a race. It could break the mind of some, but the strong minded can put it in perspective.
