In trying to get some information about the version of this game on GamersGate, I also asked if it was possible to get this game on here, to which they replied:

"We made several attempts to put the game on GOG.com but they weren't interested."

What's the deal here?

Best bet would be to email them instead of the forums, either way I doubt you will get much of an answer.

I've read more than once that GOG takes a larger share from sales than other digital distributors. I would think that would be the biggest factor.

Not-so-ninja edit: I realize far too late that I had the rejecting party backwards. Looks like I had just woken up though, probably explains it.

Yeah you're probably right.

While I'm here though, has anyone here actually bought the game though Amazon or GG? I really want to know if/what DRM is in place, the response I got from eigomanga was vague engrish and really didn't help.

Also, I wish the edit message feature would let you change a thread type, I meant this to be a question.

It's really hard to say, they've previously turned down games only to add them later on. With the limited number of games they release each week, it wouldn't surprise me if they're running a bit of a backlog.
GOG turned down some Japanese Indie games for being too arcadey a while back (according to one of those involved). Yet sell at least one Japanese arcade game. >_>

What seriously? What games?
According to http://wiki.mizuumi.net/w/Vanguard_Princess it is a 2D fighting game. I am actually not very surprised it got turned down, since GOG doesn't really have too many of these as I understand. I don't remember encountering a single one, although I don't browse the action category often. But probably they will accept it if enough people want it, if the "issue" is on GOG's side.
The game is described as a "2 on 2 fighting game". Does it have a single player mode? How are matches managed - does the game rely on the developer's server to be present? These are things that could influence GOG's decision whether to add it to the catalog.
*googles 'Vanguard Princess', looks at images* o.O Ah, yes, scantily clothed girls beating each other up for entertainment. Never change, Japan. =P

There's a small number of them, Street Fighter 2 and some others. But, the PC has never been particularly known for this particular genre of game anyways.

The game is primarily single player with a story mode, it was programmed by one guy, supposedly an ex-capcom staffer. There isn't any online play without external software.

This is precisely why this is NEEDED on GOG, go past the Anime meets Dead or Alive exterior and you'll find an extremely fluid and fun fighting engine, one of the best on the PC.

All of Nyumedia's offerings.

Bit shite for Nyumedia of course. They got on Steam with the help of Capcom, but then Capcom refused to sell them in Japan. So now they're stuck on Greenlight so they can sell worldwide and getting nowhere. So they can't get titles on here, can't get new titles on Steam. Shame really.

Only a backlog on newer games, then. :(
