Something bothers me about using this site, there are no user profiles. I'd like a way to be able to get in touch with someone I've met here, without posting in a public place.
It wouldn't have to be anything complicated, just a page that displays available contact information, or lets you send an email.
Anyone else want this?

I agree with you, however this has been mentioned in this thread. I would assume it's something that is planned for the future, seeing as a GOG.com dev suggested it. But yes, many people on here have referenced many times, that they would love to see a PM, instant message, or some sort of option to get directly in touch with someone, rather than post away on these forums.
But there are other mediums we've been able to get around, joining the GOG.com IRC group or joining the steam group, have been helpful for myself in contacting members that are on here, without posting it for everyone to see.
I might also suggest a better search engine (perhaps I should've just Googled), I did try searching for similar things before posting, but found none.

I may be mistaken, but I believe the GOG.com features wishlist is an auto-sticky thread. Otherwise, yes, the search function has also been addressed. It does need improvement, but I was able to find that since the website has gone public, you can actually search these posts on google, I just discovered this, this evening.
So can people give games as gifts to us just by entering our username? I was just curious.
There are already threads on the subject of gifting:

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/christmas_gift_cards/2

Thanks for the info, that's great. This site is perfect for giving gifts.
