It looks like the last two updated games in my account have not actually had the games themselves updated, but only the bonus content. Even then, it is not very easy at all to tell what has been updated.

Gog.com should give more info on what exactly HAS been updated.
Yes it should be given more detail, but is it that big of a deal?

Some of us have backups to maintain and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's given up specifically because of the lack of info.

I do too, and I don't make a big deal about it I just check out what was updated and go from there.

And a changelog doesn't make this process easier how exactly? A changelog would benefit everyone, big deal or no.
I would like to know why the update notifications are still there; I downloaded everything new and they usually gets rid of them.

I didn't say that it didn't.
I use the GOG downloader and download all of my games to an external hard drive that I got mainly for backing up my GOG games, so it always downloads to the same place. With that in mind, if I'm not sure what updated, I just click on the whole game + extras and then the downloader will automatically skip the items that haven't changed. And if everything is the same, then something probably got updated that I don't use (maybe another language pack or a Mac-related update).

And in all that time Gog.com has done sod-all about it? Shame on them.

It's not really fair to say that GOG has done sod-all about it since 2012.
It has done sod-all about it since 2008.
Have to give credit where credit's due.

Judas however is a saint. Seriously.

Maybe I should rephrase and say, there's a thread dedicated to this and you should address the issue there if you are wanting a response from a GOG person in blue.

It is kinda of difficult especially when the version number of the installers are cutoff at the third point and not the fourth & there isnt a way to tell if the installer is updated unless you follow the update thread (and then look back)

Generally speaking at least, Judas will usually post a sticky at the top of the particular updated game's support forum, under the Community link, especially if it's an updated installer or available patch. That's often the first place I'll take a look when I get the "updated games" notification, if I can't see specifically what's been updated. Often he will also post what is included in the update, or if it's too long a list, he'll supply a link.

I agree though, it would be nicer to have an even better system in place, to let us know just exactly what's been updated at a quick glance.

GOG is revising the way updates will be generated in the future for GOG Galaxy, and from what I've read it sounds like this will also improve the way that the files are available for download for people that do not use GOG Galaxy client as well. Presumably modern delta updates or something like that but they haven't given enough information yet. Hopefully they will maintain visible changelogs somewhere accessible over the web and/or client as well. The combination of better update mechanisms plus better documentation would be a welcome addition for many to the GOG experience IMHO.

I try to keep track of everything both manually and by monitoring the update thread, but I'm not surprised at all if a dozen or two of my games backed up locally aren't the current version i'd get if I downloaded it. I plan on re-downloading everything once Galaxy launches, with the client to have my backup library up to date.
