It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

When you get and game updated notification, and you click on the updated game it will not show you the "new" icon near the updated element.

Also, when you close it, the update notification will not disappear. And when you click on that notification again, it will show you a blank shelf instead of showing and updated game.

The update notification will hang there for indefinite amount of time.

It's been like this for a while. Firefox 24.

Yep, it's annoying as heck.
First noticed it two weeks ago I think.
Same issue on Chrome (29.0.1547.57).
Same here...

Also the GOG Downloader just now keeps giving me a "1 game updated" when nothing has been updated...
Same thing on Internet Explorer.
Same here on Comodo Chrome.
Same here.
Mine is finally gone but it stayed for ~1 hour (Opera)
Mine is gone now, too.
Same here. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

Is there some kind of timer there nowadays?

Earlier the update notifications would disappear if I clicked on the updated file (in order to download it). Then the update notification would disappear, even if I rejected the download.

Now when I do the same, the update notifications (e.g. "14") in the banner stays, but when you get there, it doesn't list any updated games.

But after several minutes, also the update notificiation on the banner will disappear. I am unsure if that is also related to logging out and in to GOG, and clearing cookies/cache/offline data from the browser. I did those in between, but I think they didn't instantly make the notification number disappear. But now, a couple minutes later, the notifications went away.

EDIT: Using Firefox 11.0 (employer doesn't offer newer at this point), and I've set it so that all cookies/offline data/cache/history etc. is deleted every time I exit the browser (the feature I love the most in Firefox).

So just to be clear: earlier today I had a notification of 14 updated games, but now I have none, after starting (but rejecting) the downloads for each of the updated files, and then doing the other steps mentioned above.

they have some timers, I think, because they would hang forever otherwise (I mean now, when they are obviously broken)
Sorry to resurrect an old topic, but damn this red New Update notification is irritating the hell out of me.

"New game update!!!
Great, i have seen it, maybe even downloaded it. Now please can the red notification freaking dissappear already! Like immediately... not after an hour or more, just now please!

off to grab a beer and be in my former relaxed state again (chill out man!)
Irony.
Yesterday when SotS was updated I didn't get a notification. Judas told me he would get on it immediately; I should have told him I wasn't necessarily complaining. :P
Sometimes it helps to click on the updated game on the shelf and then proceed to the game card. Really only sometimes though.
