A decade or so ago, when rumours of 'Mario 128' were doing the rounds, N-Cubed posted some purported renders: http://web.archive.org/web/20040619171016/http://www.n-cubed.com/mario128/screens.php
(Archive.org didn't get all the images from the page - I have a full set on my hard drive - but there are enough at the link to give a decent idea of how they look.)
N-Cubed themselves were sceptical: 'Rumour has it that the screens we have found are actually renders from the game, we have our doubts over this as they seem very strange. But then again Miyamoto did say in a recent interview it will be like nothing else.' If they were official renders, I'd have expected to see them in more places. Perhaps they're either an old hoax or some fan art from an obscure source.
I'm curious to know where these came from, and I wondered whether any of the knowledgeable people on this forum might know who made them.
