Aliasalpha: Can you explain the background of the region a bit?
Sure can.
Ulemoon is the region you are currently in. Pick, which is part of chain of hamlets and towns, spans East to West in a jagged line along the copper road. The landscape is one of steppes, ergo the farming is much like you'd expect, a terraced series of fields with the mass product being rice. Livestock is farmed as well, mostly pigs and sheep, but a few aurochs are kept for meat and milk.
Far to the East is the land of Perzurza, and to the West is the Rust Ocean, a bustling and prosperous coast line. You're about half way between the two.
You met the Landlord on his estate a few miles from Pick, and you travelled there from your respective home. You're new to this adventuring lark - but its up to you to decide why.
Aliasalpha: For example "You realise this farming community are clearly early risers, and assume that the 4th sun will rise soon. " Just how many suns are there?
There are 7 suns and 5 moons. Each one has its own name, but they vary from region to region. As an Elf you're clan would have its own names and mysticism attached to each heavenly body.
Aliasalpha: Also what sort of racial problems are there? Clearly there's an orc thing going on but you mentioned that people hadn't noticed my character being an elf, are they mistrusted as much as orcs? More importantly would my character know whether or not this is an issue?
There is as much as a racial problem as their is a racial problem in our world, but maybe a bit more wide spread. Orcs were a major problem years ago, there was a large scale war between Men and Orcs which unsettled the Copper road, but you can find out more about this through character development.
The elves are a rare race, they're the ones who first occupied the world making it great. The generally accepted rumour is that the steppes are because of a war between the elves and the gods, the land was once flat and prosperous - but now men must toil to scrape a living. That said, its a rather fairy tale idea and there is no real hatred towards elves in general. Just remember barely anyone has seen an elf in their life, but you fit in with ease until they notice your ears. You'd know your more of a wonder than a threat, like seeing a tiger in the wild in real life.
