Tantrix: Hey, can someone of you read French?
http://www.gameblog.fr/news_15707_michel-ancel-quitterait-ubisoft-c-est-faux
The only thing I understand is C'est faux 8P

My French is a little (who am I kidding, it's terrible) rusty, but from what I can read it looks like it's just an unconfirmed rumor, and that Michel Ancel is still very much working at Ubisoft, and that BG&E 2 is still very much under development ("plus que jamais dans les rails").

Elle85: According to information of the site montpellirain WootGaming, Michel Ancel, the creator of Rayman and Beyond Good & Evil emblematic figure at Ubisoft, would be about to leave the studio of Montpellier, and would give up BGE2 project. If we speak to you about this rumour, is because this information is spread with speed of light on the Net and that blow many players in panic. We invited Ubisoft France and telephone call members of the TEAM of Ubi Montpellier… They say: this information completely false, is contradicted at the same time by Ubi and our sources within the studio… and the project Beyond Good & Evil 2 more than ever on the rails. L' E3 could be well there to prove it…

CHEATER! YOU USED A MACHINE TRANSLATION!

Basically they're saying that Michel Ancel quitting UbiSoft and BG&E 2 being abandonned is a rumor spread by an unreliable website.
They asked both UbiSoft's PR and internal sources in the studio developping the game, and both confirmed that Ancel was staying and that the BG&E 2 project is still going strong.
It should be presented at the E3.

"According to informations from the Montpellier based WootGaming (which some here know for its "inspiration"), Michel Ancel, creator of Rayman or Beyond Good & Evil emblematic figure at Ubisoft would be about to quit the studio of Montpellier and by that leave the BG&E 2 project simply behind.
If we tell you of this rumour, it's because this information spreads at the speed of light over the internet and a great number of players are already panicking. To be sure we called Ubisoft France and got in touch with members of the Team Ubi Montpellier...
Rest assured: this information is completely false, denied both by press attachs and our sources within the studio... and the project Beyond Good & Evil 2 is on its way. E3 could possibly prove it in most obvious ways..."
EDIT: damn ninja'd! :)

My french is terrible, but I can make out enough to say, yup they're saying it's a rumour.
I am not sure if I am happy or not.
For one Ancel is doing the sequel, for second it's Ubisoft.
Would Ancel even allow to have it DRM'd ?
I don't know, it would have been better for me if the rumor was true 8(
Yeah...
Ubisoft is definitely gonna screw up this whole game.

Ditto.

We may get lucky and it comes out after Ubisoft has gone over their current DRM craze (I doubt it'll be released anytime soon). Also, the first game was DRM'd, that was the reason I bought it on GOG as I cannot even install my disc-based copy in a 64-bit OS (the DRM check fails at the end of the install and promptly removes everything again).
My worries are less the DRM trip(I am done with Ubisoft games aside on GoG anyway), but rather of the CASUAL TRENDS ruining the gameplay fun.
You know, casual like The Forgotten Sands?!
Ueeegh, nobody should be even be aware of it's existence....

Yeah, that's what's ruining Ubisoft, now all is about casual gaming...
you put the disc on the console (where they really develop the games for, of course) and enjoy sitting back and seeing the game playing itself or never being a real threat to you (I'm referring to Prince games and Far Cry 2)... and enjoy smashing two or three buttons and calling yourself a gamer, after paying $60.
And there is their "announcement"/whatever, that 50% of the games will be soon in 3D blah blah... moar gimmicks for our interactive cut... er, games.
Is it that bad, the new Prince game? And have you watched the movie yet? Just asking.
I will make a new thread about Prince of Persia, I hate going off topic.

Yeah, it's better to make a new topic. Sorry for the little derail.
