For my father's birthday, he decided he wanted to take the family to see the U2 concert in the brand-spanking-new Cowboy's Stadium. Tickets were cheaper than I expected, at $40 a person. Extra bonus that Muse was opening, since after listening to that Resistance album a couple of times, I've finally come around to it.
Pros:
-The Cowboy's new stadium is gigantic. Probably one of the biggest buildings I've ever been in. The cheap seats we were in way up high weren't so bad visual-wise, since they were showing the action on a screen down below.
-The light show and visuals were fantastic. The screen U2 brought in is built like an accordian, with many small trapezoidal shapes that can stretch out. This allows lights to shoot out from the inside of the contraption, and adds a more striking visual flair to the individual screens. It is probably the best light show I have ever seen.
-Both bands did well. Muse was pretty awesome, playing the best mix of their most intense songs and a couple of the new album. U2 played my favorites and kept the politics to a minimum (at least at the beginning).
Cons:
-They didn't use that giant screen the Cowboys had.

Look at that gigantic thing. It would be perfect to show all the action to people who couldn't see the screen they had down below particularly well. But they just lifted it a few feet up and kept it in the vision of the hordes of people there, as if it were taunting them, screaming "Bet you wish you could see U2 and Muse on this thing, don't you? TOO BAD!"
-The sound production was AWFUL. Sure, we were near the top, but if they're going to include those areas, they'd better make sure everyone can hear it. To make things seem even more suspicious, I could barely hear what the hell Matt Bellamy was saying or singing when Muse was opening, then the sound "magically" got better when U2 got on stage. When you fill Cowboy's Stadium, you'd better make sure your sound is in tip-top shape all around!
-Of course, it's U2, so politics got involved eventually. The sound sucked, so I couldn't hear everything, but I remember hearing him mention something about Bush, and everyone cheered, so he obviously made some bad comment about our old president. That's getting old fast. Bush comments got old even before he left the White House.
-No Knights of Cydonia? COME ON!
In conclusion, it was a fun night, but it could've been so much better. Now, I'd better get to work on my four hours of sleep this concert has assigned to me.
