damn, i'm in one game where i'm engaging an enemy with more planets, science and economy than me. Any tips?

No Idea, but in one of our games, we are 3 from GOG. Too early to tell if it will work as it is our first game at all ;)
You shall try to team up with other players and trade science. This should help you to get an advantage.

yeah i had some great diplomacy going; I got my ally to attack another guy, whom i tricked into thinking someone else was attacking him, thus he sent his forces south.

Upsilon Polaris was just created minutes ago (1/8 players being me), so if any other GoG members would like to have a little game,... ;)

Cloak and dagger works well in this game. Appearing weak when really not is a good tactic. For example:

You know the enemy's scanner range. That means you know which planets he can see in terms of fleet size, etc. If he attacks, usually they attack weaker planets. So, what you can do is have a weak planet, but have another planet behind it, but closer than the enemy planet, with reinforcements. When he launches an attack, he is stuck attacking. You can then send in reinforcements in response as your travel time is shorter.

Similar tactic, you can leave ships on your planet produced but not actually in a fleet and just launch them when under attack. Misdirection is key when fighting an enemy of any size.

In general, its not a bad idea to focus on tech other people aren't in the beginning, if everyone else is doing weapons, do speed or range, and then trade with them for weapons.

Can you eventually join more than 2 games?

Neptune's Pride is pretty good but I'm finding Blight way more fun. So awesome. HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOTH OF THEM.
