I want to consolidate my DOS games, including those from my GOG Collection. I already have my own copy of the latest ver. of DOSbox (v0.74) in my own setup (that within my own copy of DGBL v0.73).

But when I attempt to divert the installation of a game, and without installing yet another copy of DOSbox, I get this:

Well that's weird! I really DO have DOSbox in that folder AND it's the latest version! But nontheless the installer won't let me install the game. :/ Bummer!

Meanwhile, for a work-around, I just installed the whole thing, including GOG's copy of DOSbox. Then I just deleted that DOSbox from the game's folder. But as you can see from the pic below, which is a picture of the window into that game's folder, there's a lotta other GOG stuff that my DGBL can't use.

So what in there is safe to delete? And, BTW, what is that 'JACK' folder? ???

Oh, and one other quick question: How can I imbed images and/or thumbnails into my posts here? This GOG Forum doesn't seem to use BBCode.

Please help! Thanks much in advance!

This question / problem has been solved by SirPrimalformimage
That first problem is due to GOG's installers not recognising versions of DOSBox more recent than whenever the installer script was written. The solution I use is to keep an old version of DOSBox in my DOSBox folder under a name like dosbox.exe.old. Before installing a GOG, I change the current version's name to dosbox.exe.new and the old version to dosbox.exe. After I've installed the game, I change the names back.
You can use Reshack to change the version number for DOSBox 0.74 to 0.72, GOG installer can pick it up fine in that case.

Oh wow, I had kind of assumed they were using some kind of hashcheck to identify the file. That's useful to know, thanks.

You can't, and quite frankly I'm glad that you can't.

However, what you can do is attach pictures directly to a post. This eliminates the need for uploading them to ImageShack or somewhere else, but it doesn't embed them in the post, just attaches them as clickable links at the bottom of the post.

Also, a few games (Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 for sure, maybe others) won't install to a path containing a period.

Also Jack Orlando, but that isn't a DOSBox game. Any DOSBox games shouldn't care, since DOSBox doesn't care (and the games themselves don't know of anything outside their own directory).
