And an unfortunate one at that considering dub-step is everywhere now. Would that yodeling or Mongolian throat singing gave me a headache, at least I could avoid those.

There's an enormous pile of stations to choose from; I probably picked EKR out of sheer blind luck.

Just in case anyone's interested, the EKR network consists of several stations; Euro Truck Simulator 2 only picks up one of them.

Find fan-made music videos with music you like.

1) Pick a TV show or movie you liked
2) Search for that show + 'fan vids', 'amvs', etc
3) Listen to ones that sound interesting

Works because someone has to like the song well enough to make a music vid to it. The song has to have something going for it. Plus, if they like the same show there's at least one shared preference.

I've found some of my favorite songs this way. It's especially good for finding obscure stuff.

Last.fm is the place you're looking for, although lately I'm into Spotify more. In the end they're cooperating, so this tandem is the best on the market so far.

Well like most other people I look in the "people also bought" or "similar artists" area when looking at a band I already like. I personally like to find music I like that is not on the mainstream radio. So I like to see what other countries are listening to. the satellite radio on my cell phone is good to check out other countries. My latest obsession is with Nemesea out of the Netherlands. I ended up purchasing two of their albums off of Amazon. They are compared closely to Evanescense. I'm unsure what folk metal is considered so a few of the following may be too... Meh, if you're looking for new music just give them a try.

Dope - Still one of my favorite metal bands
Zombie Girl - I guess more of a goth metal? I absolutely love the "Blood Brains & Rock and Roll" album, a bit older but still...
Orgy - I think they are considered industrial rock? Not sure if they are still around but I still listen to them. I have like 4 albums I think from them.
KidneyThieves - Another one I liked but not sure if they are still around either.

For electronic music I like listening to some of the live shows on di.fm. They usually play some new and unreleased music on those. Other than that, there's last.fm as someone mentioned earlier.
