I'm someone looking for someway of installing Tie Figher on my Windows 7 machine. Bewarned that I am technically incompetent and wondering if anyone ( incividuals/companies or other ) does this as a service ?

But you need a josytick/gamepad. That game is aunplayable with a mouse.

It came out in 1994, so it should be DOS-based, and therefore should work ok in DOSBox. You might need to change some of the settings, but if you have the disks or CD then DOSBox should be enough.

Tie fighter for dos is a simple case of using Dosbox with the right options :

Tie Fighter for win 95 ( the remake cd version with improved graphics ) works wery well under 7 ( windows 95 mode) ...but the original installer is totally incompatible with newer Windows versions.

Does "technically incompetent" also mean you are not familiar how to setup and run MS-DOS games, even in a real DOS environment? Or just that you are not familiar with how to use DOSBox?

I beat it with a keyboard alone.
