BadDecissions: The Darksider series and Metro were great; I hope THQ can recover from their financial problems and go on to keep making games like those.
THQ is just a publisher. I dont remember when they actually dev any title..

yyahoo: Hehe, maybe more like, if you rented an apartment with cockroaches, would you prefer it to be with or without rats...

;) Before any Steam defenders jump up, I'm just kidding...
avatar
kodeen: It depends on whether the cockroaches could ride the rats like horses, and recreate great cavalry battles of the past.
You know, I could see a pretty cool game in that... Someone needs to start a Kickstarter for it... hehe

Actually, I think the problem with my scenario is that the rats would probably eat the cockroaches...

SimonG: Because Steam is a a service. And I like that service.
It's a "think outside your experience" thing. To people like me who only play singleplayer and don't care about social features choosing DRM over not DRM seems crazy. If we think outside our experience though we can understand a lot of people like those features.

I hardly play any multiplayer myself, still I like how Steam(or Origin) has improved my gaming experience.

For me the biggest benefit is probably that I can buy games in the US which guarantees me uncensored and English versions for decent prices. And downloading everything with a local server. And that I can put my (non- big publisher) games on one central service, which I like. (I really don't care about any potential "steam going down" or "loosing access". I can handle any legal issue fine and if Steam goes under, there will be the pirate bay)

Interestingly enough, I went from "full piracy" towards 0% piracy due to the way Steam (or GOG) are handling it. With DRM free I need to "handle" my games a bit more. It's ok for old games, but with new games I want automated updates, DLC addition and all that.

To each his own. I don't really mind Steam but I certainly prefer a simple exe download. The client offers me nothing except auto-patching, which is often a bad thing rather than a good one.

But I understand why people like it.
So when is THQ releasing their games on GOG? I'll gladly buy them, they just need to release them on here already.

So would I. Contact them at their official site, and let them know we're interested. I already wrote to them, but I haven't gotten a response yet. If enough people contact them, hopefully they'll get the picture and come to GOG.

No reason to do so :P They will be bought by Ubisoft, and Ubi is already here, so THQ games are coming to GOG anyway :P :P :P

I wrote to them on 07/10/2012 and got a reply on 09/10/2012.

Hello,

There are a number of THQ games that interest me and I would most certainly like to purchase them. Nevertheless, none of the THQ games I wish to buy are currently being sold on GOG.com and thus I would like to inquire as to when THQ will be offering their titles on GOG.com as this is my retailer of choice. If this is not the relevant department, then kindly forward my email to a relevant party.

Thank you and kind regards,
*****

Hi *****,

There are no plans at the moment.

If this changes we will let people know via THQ.com and our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Kind Regards

Yes, that's the kind of reply I'd have expected. =\ Well, we'll see if things change in the coming weeks.

I do hope this is the case. This is the latest news from the stock market:

Will they definitely be bought by Ubisoft? Ubisoft seems to be the least evil out of the big publishers and they seem to give GOG sufficient attention. Would love to have the THQ games on GOG soon.

The service is great, it's the DRM which is the sucky part and has little to do with the services:)
Is the THQ the publisher of the new Metro game?

If you're talking about Metro: Last Light then yes.
