This time he's suing Valve for a Half-life 2 school shooting simulator.
http://www.gamesradar.com/pc/pc/news/jack-thompson-emerges-from-hiding-to-threaten-valve-over-school-shooting-mod/a-20110318143944575095/g-2006032219817514003

I don't see how he could get Valve in any trouble for this. Their not making the mod or even endorsing it as far as I know. I especially like his last line "I hate being right all the time."
Oh no...

*facepalm*

Damuna: Wasn't he banned from filing lawsuits against video game companies?
I think that just expired recently.
I like Jack Thompson - he's funny.
Ah good. I was just thinking that more people should be trolling the major names in the industry.

He was disbarred and from what I gather he received and enhanced disbarment which means that he shouldn't be eligible to even apply for a reversal for a number of years. We don't have such a thing here, just disbarment. So, in order to get his license to practice law back, he'd have to prove that he's no longer a threat to the profession or anybody that he chooses to represent.

He can however always practice pro se, but he'd need to justify to the court his standing to file suit. Which greatly diminishes the cases he can take on. Unless of course somebody were to shoot him...
Wow thanks for telling me about this mod! I'm downloading it!

Also, Half Life murder simulator? Because nothing gets the blood flowing in a killer like a hyperrealistic simulation like Half Life 2 mods.

I was going to add onto my post that I'm glad he's back. Now I know what games to buy as surely as CDs. Just look for the one that's being condemned and you know it's gotta be good.
Yeah I read about this a few days ago as well. Reading the letter by Jack, tells me a few things.

1.) His lack of knowledge of gaming is astounding, You'd think that being an anti-video game lawyer and being "always right" would require knowledge about the medium. "This mod is a full-blown Columbine massacre simulator which cannot function without your company's assistance and acquiescence." I mean come on Jack do you really think that Checkerboarded needs Valve's assistance to release a mod. Oh and let's not forget "As you either know or should know, your Half-Life murder simulator was obsessively played," Well I am at least happy for you you got something right. Half-Life was obsessively played but that was because it was a good game not because it was a murder simulator. I can safely bet that you have not even heard of Half-Life before someone tipped you off about this mod.

2,) you are most likely one of the most obsessive self important people in the United States and that's sad because you have a lot of competition in that regard. The fact that you say "I hate being right all the time." makes me think that you think that you actually mean something to America, That you are protecting American culture when in reality your just an overly conservative, idiotic and obsessive twit. I would say you have more problems than you think some gamers have.

Jack we know this is nothing more than you getting back on your crazy throne so you can get your attention from your fellow ignorant and misinformed supporter's of the anti-video game army of America but that fact is no one missed you and you were disbarred for a reason. Take a hint

*rant over*

*EDIT: Oh yeah forgot to mention Jack, this whole letter is just getting the mod in question more attention and more and more people are going to download this mod so congratulations on that. Hell I can personally say that I completely forgot about this mod which I heard about a week or two ago so thanks for refreshing my memory Jack.

Permanent disbarments don't expire, which is what Thompson received; though in his imaginary world he was never disbarred and he claims he still has every right to practice law.
Yay, Jack the Righteous is back with another holy crusade against the evil games!
How can he not succeed? I will watch with pleasure as he smites down the evil video game companies.....oh wait.
For what it's worth, that's the most convincing murder simulator I've seen all morning. Of course, it's the only murder simulator I've seen all morning. -_-;

I have my doubts that this was even a mod. Perhaps it's a proof-of-concept and they're trying to learn how to make a mod, but this "presentation" looks more like they loaded up a map in GMod, stole someone else's HUD and gun, and spawned some NPCs. In fact, I'd be surprised if that wasn't the case! Making a room in hammer and placing some NPCs is pretty simple stuff, but I don't they even did that. I don't think I have to even point out that those models all look very familiar and aren't very convincing students, or even faculty.

However, as some other people have pointed out, it's rather humorous that he just meanders about the room while they all just stand there eerily calm while he picks out the black guys.

This is pretty silly, even for Jack Thompson. Telling Gabe Newell to stop this is like telling Xerox to stop making paper, since paper too can be used as a medium for drawing a picture of somebody shooting up a group of people who are supposed to represent students. Nobody in their right mind is going to want to play this. Nobody in their wrong mind would either. Spawning NPCs in Garry's Mod and finding your own creative places and ways to kill them would satisfy any violent urges far more than this would.

Oh yes. This should be soooo interesting!

Also, that mod just looks like Garry's Mod.

Unless the students are at a reformatory, or juvie, I think they look a lot more like prison inmates. And yeah, it seemed oddly surreal that they didn't try to defend themselves or run away.

Which reminds me, I remember seeing a video a long time ago from Lucas arts, where the people were grabbing on for dear life as they were screwing with them. I think it was Lucas Arts.
Best news ever.
