Oh don't get me wrong, the placebo effect can be very potent if you believe it genuinely can work. That goes for prayer too. Which is why it tends to have benefits in health related matters.
As for God knowing what's best for everyone, there are several problems with that. Firstly, there's the fact that after the flood, God realised that his meddling in human affairs was more detrimental than beneficial (it only took wiping nearly everyone out to realise that too!) so he decided to abstain from meddling and left us to our own devices. Which is something that perhaps renders any argument for the 'power of prayer' null and void by itself.
Secondly there's all the perfectly reasonable requests that don't get answers and are unlikely to trigger any butterfly effects (at least not more so than most of the shit going on in the world). But yeah, no meddling. So that explains that.

Yes, but it's one of the founding arguments for the Protestant reform that the Roman Catholic Church is misguided.
In fact, article XXII of the 39 articles which are the foundation of the Anglican Church(that is, in what separates it from other denominations, as the Bible is the founding element of all Christian denominations) states: "The Romish doctrine concerning Pugatory, Pardons, worshipping and adoration as well of Images as of Relics, and also Invocation of Saints, is a fond thing vainly invented, and grounded upon no warranty of Scripture; but rather repugnant to the word of God."
And I have to agree, why pray to a Saint, God is all powerful, you aren't bothering Him by praying to Him. Purgatory, you've either accepted Christ, or you have not, there is no middle stage, you don't have to be cleansed to get into Heaven. Now, I'm fairly certain the Church doesn't give Pardons any more, so you can ignore the ones that are no longer practised, but they do have no basis in Scripture.
Not all Catholics are misguided, but the Roman Catholic Church definitely is in some respects.

To which I would have to ask - Which Bible are you refering? As I would agree with you as I do not believe the Catholic Bible is the preserved word. God said he would give us his word and that he would preserve it. If that is so then we have it. Where is it? Psalm 12

If this is true (and I believe it is) then we have his preserved word somewhere.

I guess that's what i wanted to communicate before. Though i believe they are corrupted, and that's why i left the Church, and practiced Christianity, without the Consnantine stuff.. And then i've read the Bible...;)

All protestant denominations owe their origins to Catholicism. By stating that you know the Bible was corrupted through the 1400 years it was in the hands of the power crazed, corrupt and somewhat blatantly atheist Catholic church you're also acknowledging that protestant denominations haven't fared any better as that is what they were once a part of.
You could argue that they did at least halt the corruption, but given recent editions like Rapture and Mormonism, I'm not sure I would agree.
Where has the truth in the Bible been preserved? Sorry, but I really don't know the answer to that one.

You are most definately off here - As a Baptist (who never were under the influence of the Catholic Church) I think you need to re-examine that statement.

The Baptist Church was born out of the protestant reformation. Even if we put that fact aside, we're still left with the fact that the Baptist Church is only a few hundred years old beginning roughly around the start of the 17th Century. That's not far back enough for them to have safeguarded the Bible.
I would be interested in any findings you make that aren't directly based on Bible passages that essentially proclaim 'this is legit'. It takes a little more than that to sway me.

Some are hilarious to read. Others you will completely disagree with and will make you angry to see how blind they are. The site has been around for years, but I figured it was relevant to some.
