This is why I remain independent. These are all good points, and there is no doubt in my mind that the business sense of conservative politics, and insistence on retaining core free market principles, would greatly help this country's economics.

Unfortunately, however, the GOP insists on retaining archaic, blatantly homophobic and misogynistic beliefs for social issues. Fear-mongering and bully tactics shouldn't be the way you try to influence national and international opinion.

I wanted to vote for Romney, I really did. I think his business sense would have helped us a lot more than Obama's current economic policies. But he just couldn't remove himself from the right-wing nutjobs who think that separation of church and state is somehow a bad thing. He also thinks that starting a multi-front war is the way to regain America's foothold in the international space. And that's why, in the end, he couldn't earn my vote (Obama didn't either, but that is besides the point).

Are the examples he mentions in the video literal? The boobies coverage, evolution is lies from hell and all that... have they truly said and done that??

You better believe it. It's astounding what garbage comes out of the mouths of some of these politicians.
Elmo, you might have to change your location to USA pretty soon...
One thing I dont get aside from all the bullshit, is that some people just can't get over losing. Romney went out like an honest person, he didn't blame anybody for losing. However, Donald Trump is saying on his twitter account that we should march on washington, is he really serious or has he just become the emperor of the birthers?

He also called for a revolution and said that Obama lost the popular vote (Which as of now is false, because he officially won before all of the west coast was counted)

HereForTheBeer: He makes some funny points, in his efforts to completely ignore:

- unemployment
- enormous growth in Social Security Disability recipients
- enormous growth in food stamp recipients
- ~$5 trillion in new debt
- no budget in almost 4 years

etc., etc., etc.

"Hey you, in the unemployment line! Look over here! Did you know that the President can not ban birth control, neither candidate has expressed any desire in doing so, and yet we're going to present it as a national issue anyway? You have no job but sex is free, so this should be the most important issue to you!"
Legitimate question: do you think 4 years is enough time for him to completely reverse the staggering mess he inherited from the "conservative" Bush?

+1 to you.

This is a point that most people seems to forget. Up until now, there hasn't been a democrat who got more than 4 years (which is really short to make big changes).

Um, Clinton did. And Roosevelt before him. But yeah, I think it's a short amount of time to turn around a massive economic crisis.

The line before was "well he made it worse" but it's been improving for a while now so I can't really jump on board with that. Only the debt keeps getting worse and I honestly think Republicans blocking a proper budget in Congress is a large part of that.

The end point is we're just not compromising when our entire government is built around it.

Yet.

But it's not like he had the biggest economic meltdown during his presidency....

oh wait.

Legitimate answer: He said he would, soooo....

But to take it further, four of those things are direct results of HIS reaction to the financial problem created by the liberal and conservative Presidents and Congress over the last 30 years or so. Don't fall into the trap of blaming this whole thing on Bush when this was in the making for at least 3 decades. And then, his baffling focus on health insurance reform over the economy puts into question his priorities, but that's what you get when a nation elects an historic moment instead of a leader.

Even so, do you really think that four years isn't enough time to bring the U3 down to around 7.0% and falling further? $5 trillion should be an assload of jobs if one follows his fiscal mantra that government spending spurs recovery and subsequent growth. There's never been a larger amount of federal deficit spending in so short a time so the job market should be going gangbusters, right? Do we have that? Maybe the focus after a big economic hit should have been the economy instead of health insurance.

Uhh, the Senate needs to submit a budget in the first place, and put it up for a vote. When that finally happens, the Republicans can vote to block it.

Kinda funny, we got a mailing on Friday that explained Obama's plans for the future. Plans would have been useful, say, 3 years and 10 months ago.

Ah well, my own plans include preparing for the Obamacare recession of 2014.
I thought this is what would have happened if Romney had of won...

Any possibility seems seems viable to me... :D

The Republican right has said some astoundingly stupid things in recent memory. The evolution is a lie from hell bit came from Rep. Paul Broun, who said, "All that stuff I was taught about evolution, embryology, Big Bang theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of hell.". Funny side note...this guy is on the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology and is a physician. This statement was given at a church group. That's the kind of guy we want on a committee whose reason for being is technology. /sarcasm

Then there are the ones that tried to say a woman's body could stop a pregnancy from "legitimate rape" and saying pregnancies from rape are something that God intended to happen. Fortunately, both of these people were either voted out or lost their bids.

The Right pretty much stands for everything anti-technology, anti-science, anti-progress, pro-Bible thumping that it's unbelievable. Some of the things they purportedly stand for such as fiscal conservancy, pro-Second Amendment and such, I can support, but that's not what they are about anymore. It's pandering to the crowd that, if the country was a school they would be the ones wearing helmets 24/7 (in my opinion), jumps them from having any truly legitimate arguments.

Unfortunately, this is also a country where almost half of the population believes that God created Man as-is sometime in the last 10,000 years. The movie Idiocracy isn't a parody, it's an inevitability.
