meh, I saw them a couple of times at Reading Festival many moons ago, once to make sure I had a good spot for Muse and the second because the bill said 'special guests' and there wasn't much else going on. I ahve no idea how they managed to get anywhere his voice live is awful. Not so bad on record but I'm not a fan.

You're right, there aren't words to describe how good the Flaming Lips are... because they just aren't very good. I mean, there is some kind of musical ability there, that much is obvious, but what they choose to do with that ability... I just can't describe how bad it is.

i rather like his voice, and didn't notice any particular problems with it live either.

I've heard their stuff before and thought it was a bit take-it-or-leave-it (translation: meh)... but then I heard "The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song" ("with all your power") on an "indie" hits album, and it must have been my favourite song on the album.
