Does anyone remember this delicious X-Files game?

It used to scare the crap out of me, but I could not stop playing it. The FMV parts were of really high production. I also loved the fact that it came on 7 discs. I loved swapping discs, I have no idea why.
luckily there is a dvd version.

Really? I did not know that.
The disc swapping does have its charm though. Might be nostalgia kicking in. ;)

yeah (Getting it right now as a matter of fact) its pretty rare though. also has the french version on it.

cant imagine the fun in swapping a cd every so minute :x
With the X Files DVD Season 1 Boxset there is a trivia game called Roots of Conspiracy on Disc 7, never actually looked at it though.

Never managed to get a hold of either of the X Files games though that were released for PC and PS2 unfortunately :(

You can find some copies on ebay.
I'd recommend it. It's not a masterpiece, but it's an enjoyable FMV. :)

I am a fan of the X Files so its something that can sit with my DVD sets, adds to the collection and X Files Universe basically. Currently sits next to the other awesome Chris Carter series I have Millenium, just a shame it was cancelled after 3 Seasons.
The original CD version game installer also supported a full hard drive install although many didn't have the room back then. The game plays well in a Win98 virtual machine using MS Virtual PC or VMWare. The fact that the game installs and requires quicktime 3 pretty much rules out running it in a modern OS natively. With a virtual machine this point is moot.

according to this it can run even on windows 7 without quicktime 3

gonna burn and try myself now.

[edit] it gets stuck during setup , wont even run setup in vmware windows xp.
works with vmware windows 95

The PC game is quite alright. Hardly a masterpiece, and not nearly enough Fox, but still enjoyable.

The PS2 version, well we don't talk about the PS2 version. It does not exist.

So essentially the PS2 game gets locked away and forgotten about like an X File!!

Looking on Wikipedia it says it is like a Resident Evil Clone, there were so many games like that on PS1 and PS2. The first Evil Dead game comes to mind, would have been great if it wasnt for the constantly respawning enemies. There was also The Thing game which started out great at the base then you moved on into a lab and it went off in a tangent instead of being set in the arctic.

Did you accidentally edit out a link? I was curious if someone had a work around that didn't require quicktime 3. Given how old QT3 is and the fact that it is a huge security risk I would still prefer the virtual machine method over hacking QT3 to install on a win7 box.

Edit: Forgot to mention I had no problem getting it to work on a fully patched Win98SE environment on both virtual platforms. I would check the DX acceleration or more specifically Direct Show as I think it's required to be functional for QT3 and the FMVs.

well or i forgot to post the link , but it was just someone claiming he/she runs it on windows 7 with installing quicktime 7 rather then using quicktime 3.
nothing else.

I have it running fine natively on Windows 7 and XP. Didn't do anything special to get it running.

I once accidentally bought an 'X-files' interactive CD-ROM (remember them - it's how they promoted stuff before proper websites) of the market thinking it was this! Doh!
