The Spongebob Squarepants MMO.
In other news, Company of Heroes is becoming an MMO, and Lord of the Rings Online is going FTP. Thoughts?

Let's be clear here, Company of Heroes Online is just an RTS that happens to be an MMO game, and I think the US version will have the complete single player game (the Korean version does anyway). Still, this is a cool idea, a Spongebob Squarepants MMO.
You'll play it. At the least you'll check it out because curiousity got the better of you. Admit it.

I despise Spongebob, much moreso than most cartoon characters. Anything that makes him more prevalent fills me with rage.

Yeah, LOTRO will be FTP, but a close examination of the conditions reveals that players who really want to enjoy the game will have to pay a monthly fee as usual. So nothing really changes, except that the casual gamer will still be able to have some fun and maybe later decide to go further and spend some money in the game.
Spongebob Squarepants a MMO? Why not? But not for me.

I used to watch Spongebob occasionally. The series became crap right after Season 2. Season 1 was produced by Stephen Hillenburg, and it was somewhat enjoyable due to the unpredictability nature of the characters and art style that made the show funny. Season 2, produced by Derek Drymon, was still fun to watch because the hilarity was still preserved. And then came Season 3 and the rest that followed, which were taken over by that prick Paul Tibbitt. The animation style was completely changed - I suppose it was done via computer animation software like Flash, and the previous satirical humour is now lost, replaced by unfunny slapstick humour.
IMO Spongebob now easily qualifies for one of the most annoying TV characters ever. Such a shame that people who had no idea what made the first 2 seasons so amazing are now at its reins.

I'm not a huge fan of Spongebob, other than the catchy theme song, but I always found it highly amusing that Clancy Brown, the actor who played the Kurgan in Highlander, was the voice for Mr. Krabs. A headhunting, psychopathic killer, on a "children's" show... This only adds to the entertainment value.
