Without watching those commercials, a simple look to the native design of each of their Windows is enough to see that Microsoft has always had bad taste.
In their recent commercials, as Windows 7 Party or Natal project, don't know why but to me, there is in it a 'rich-and-happy-republican-family' feeling that always make me want to throw up...

I actually saw a decent Windows 7 commercial recently...

And I love how she closes it with "AND MORE HAPPY IS COMING..." jump to October 22, 2009 date.
Wow, you just don't get it do you?
Microsoft's internal ads are always parodies deliberately made to be excessively cheesy and self-deprecating while still mixing in some genuinely useful information, but the problem is that not everyone gets the joke. This humour carried over to the Seinfeld ads and some of the Windows 7 ads because the marketing guys know how popular these internal videos have been with the general public (even if not for the right reasons).
Also see the PDC 2008 promo video. Like many of the people posting in this very thread, some YouTube commenters thought this was meant to be a dead serious advertisement for Windows 7 and/or PDC. It isn't.

The problem with MS is they are too up their own asses. Yes we don't get it and neither do 90% of the globe.

Exactly. Setting your adverts up to be perceived as failures results in actual failures. With advertising it's public perception that matters. Not the intentions of the marketing people.
