Aren't they a little ridiculous?
I looked at the BASS download and it recommended 1GB RAM - I can tell you that ScummVM/BASS will work on as little as 64MB. Where did these requirements come from?
In fact, it runs on my DS with 4MB.
And things like the original Fallout are obviously not going need something as ridiculously high as 1GB...
One word: Vista
Minimum requirements for the OS are fairly high, and GOG is partially based on Vista compatiability.
Also, minimum requirements listed high are better than minimum requirements on boxes that are totally unrealistic ;)
Yeah, people forget that emulation-style software (DOSBox, ScummVM) eats up some chunks of processor cycles.
Think of it as the original system requirements + the emulator requirements = GOG.com version game requirements.
Eh. I pretend Vista doesn't exist - I'm a Linux.

Then you have no use for the GOG version of BASS anyway. Get it from the ScummVM homepage instead. It would be somewhat pointless to "emulate" Windows (through Wine) in order to run the Windows version of ScummVM, when you could just run the game through the Linux version directly.
Or, as Gog.com offers us DRM free things I just take the BASS files (after running the installer in Wine) and set them up for the Linux ScummVM.
That is pointless, yes so I do download the version on the SVM site (I even made my own CD release you can download on revfans.com). But for the other games I'll be buying after Christmas, Wine should be absolutely fine.

Sure, sure. I was only talking about the two freeware ScummVM titles here on GOG.
