Phew, I'm glad it got funded. Stop motion clay animation niche is my niche!
Ugh, waiting for PayPal is gonna kill me... >.< Time zones are evil.

I wonder if I can still join the Armikrog Army. I mean, it's not my fault that I couldn't add my pledge, and I tried to do a bit of promotion for the game when things started to look really bad (which didn't end well, but was still worth it, IMO). It's just that I'm generally useless. >.<

But... the others did so much more, it was amazing! I honestly have never seen such a dedicated community before.

You will ABSOLUTELY be able to join. It has already been mentioned that some Europeans can't deal with the kickstarter system, so those who will back with Paypal and add the $4.96 tip are Official Members welcomed with open arms. Just leave a note at the bottom of the main page saying you joined via paypal at http://armikrogarmy.com and an admin will add you to role call list.
Not a backer (I've already backed way too much), but I'm glad to see they got this funded. :D
I hope they'll open a forum soon.
Well, now that my money is finally where I wanted it to be, I feel much better. It was really bothering me that I couldn't donate right away. Go Armikrog!

oasis789: Interesting. Does it make sense to use real claymation or is there a way to do that in 3d modeling?
avatar
Crosmando: Wouldn't look the same
Oh yeah, Aardman Animation tried to do a CGI film in their usual Claymation style and it bombed at the box office!

I think it was 'Flushed Away' appropriately enough!
I like the idea of making games by "filming" live-action stuff and making it into a game. Their was a lot of lame FMV stuff in the 90's but I'm curious as to what can be done with it with modern technologies and video compression formats. Can't wait to see what the new Tex Murphy game looks like too.

YnK: Aw, come on... My guess is that I won't be able to back the project (stupid Amazon Payments), and I'm afraid that even a spiritual successor to The Neverhood won't defeat my fear of Steam. Grrr...

...Also, wow, that Tim Schafer quote. ^_^;;;
Tim should probably be pumping his money into his own Kickstarters before backing anyone else's at the moment though ... ;-D

lunsland: If Armikrog gets funded, it would be awesome if GOG could bundle it with The Neverhood.
Hells if we're shooting for the moon hows about a new PC port of Skullmonkeys to go with it?

Well I see that you're ahead of me in noticing the Paypal opened up at http://armikrog.com/
Geez... now that was stupid of me, not stating clearly in the form of an announcement that the store at the official site is indeed opened now. *headdesk* When I fail, I fail hard...

I wonder how much extra money the PTS guys can get this way.

Post-kickstarter doesn't get much media notice, plus there is much less urgency once people know the project got funded, so it is typically a small percentage of kickstarter funds.

At least it's there for the dedicated fans who couldn't do kickstarter or found out about it too late, and it often turns out to be enough to get one more stretch goal.
I'm happy that game developers got enough funds to make this happen. You guys should be more than passionate about this game to fund kickstarter or event post one. I'm a fan but I'll wait for game to come out next year and if it will happen I'll really buy a copy.
I really hope GOG will enable Linux support before Armikrog comes out.
