Randalator: That's just what Taco Bell wants Europeans to believe...
avatar
hedwards: I had no idea. I wonder how much Pizza Hut paid for that.
Nothing, Pizza Hut belongs to the same parent company as Taco Bell. That was just a case of rebranding with another franchise Europeans are familiar with because teh movie goers is stoopid, confusing with teh unknown brands do be bad, durr...

spindown: Computers are getting smaller, but portion sizes keep getting bigger and bigger. By 2020 a small cheeseburger at McDonald's will weigh 5 pounds.

cw8: Pretty much, servings get smaller and smaller or here but the price keeps going up.

You can tell this is an international forum, but still, I found it funny that these two posts were back to back.

mystikmind2000: That picture reminded me of something.... you know how sometimes you hear people justify fat and say "its genetics" or a thyroid problem or something like that. I think to myself, ok if that is true, why can't they send those conditions to the third world and save all the starving people?? because its bullxxxx
I don't think you understand the mechanics of malnutrition.

mystikmind2000: HUH! More like 5 Grams! - You had better take a closer look at how McDonald portion size has changed over time,,, while the general trend is that the food portion does increase (except hot chips of course) McDonald's consider their customers so addicted and so stupid, that they have been steadily reducing the portion sizes over the years.
I'm guessing maybe the US McDonalds are slowly syphoning off their international product to put it into their US product. :P

I love confusing the poor employees by simply asking for a 'mac', because it no longer meets the requirement for 'big'.

Indeed. Being fat doesn't mean that you are well nourished. On the contrary, it's usually a sign of nutritional deficiencies.

My definition of 'fat' related to the picture of the person i had replied too.

Some people have the natural capacity to absorb and store more fat from less food, so that is their excuse for being fat but it is not a valid excuse, because at some point, no matter what are the condition or genetics, there has to be a limit to how much fat can be absorbed from x amount of food. It is scientifically impossible to gain more weight than the total weight of the food you ate.

I am fat!, it is because i eat too much food, i eat too much food compared to what a normal healthy person would eat. Some people get fat even though they eat the same amount of food a normal healthy person eats, but this is still no excuse for being fat, because their eating too much food according to the natural balance of their 'own' body.

It's actually a lot more complicated than that. Your body weight and eating patterns are controlled by a variety of hormones and neurotransmitters, the behavior of which is influenced by what you eat. The amount of food that you consume isn't the main determinant of your weight, it's the quality and composition of your food. You don't get fat from eating too much, you get fat from consuming things that your body is not really equipped to handle.
