lugum: for some reason i can't get it to work anymore. it crashes when i try to launch it on windows 7. it worked with xp. anyone knows? running it with a nvidia card (drivers up to date)
,firewall isn't blocking anything.
Try turning off triple buffering for the game in the nVidia Control Panel (or nVidia Inspector if you use that)

shane-o: This game looks pretty good, but metacritic gave it 66/100. I prefer normal people's views so if anyone has played it, tell me yay or nay
AWESOME GAME

thanks, was already off, i tried it on and again back off. but still nothing. still guessing its an audio thing looking at the error i mentioned.
only have an onboard sound card (and i think many others too hence why it gives problems for some and for others it don't) that the problem lies there.
in devices>audio it shows 4x nvidia high audio, realtek high audio (onboard thing) and srs audiobox.

I was reading/searching the steam forums and they said it will work with onboard sound, citing that sound cards can be problematic

I saw mention that point 5 from thread can help. Up to you if you want to do it (and yes, I know it says it's about Portal) The original thread I got it from is [url=http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1128551&page=3]HERE (page 3, post 39)

EDIT: for some reason, the first link to alteriw.net might give you a 404 error, just click the link here again

Awesome! I'm glad I could help :)
I played it on 360, I really loved the game, but it did get alot of hate, I think some people found it hard to acclimatise to the strategy element and no actual towns.

The game has great longevity, there are certain bosses that you really do have to grind levels for, but yeah, fond memories of that game, I think I'll have to dust it off and give it another spin. :)

There are towns. That's where I recruited most of my leaders.
Yes but you cant really explore them, they are just zones that you warp to, sorry for the confusion :)
The PC version is steamwork right? If so, I thing Amazon (or other places online) has a better deal right now than steam, and the game ends up registered to one's steam account regardless.
Steam has it for 75% off right now at $9.99.
