Thanks, I'm in and...good luck.
Unluckly, I can't give you any advice, because I'm unemployed too,,,I don't know about the economic situation of your country, but here in Italy finding a work it's just like finding a treasure :(
Thanks for the giveaway :) , i'm in for darkplanetar. and +1
The easiest way to get a new job is by networking - this means if you have a friend in a company who can recommend you, it's easier to get hired.
Also getting a new job depends on your qualifications. If your skillset is highly sought after, naturally it's easier to find a job. If not then you have to try to send a CV to as many job offerings as you can. Unfortunately it's hard to draw someones attention to you from HR with only a CV, especially when there are thousands of applicants. One important thing to remember though: If you ever send an electronic CV, don't send it as a word document. Make it a pdf. Many HR people dismiss instantly word documents ;).
Also it can help to read up and learn new skills, if it's hard to find a job in your old domain.
And if you get to an interview be confident, try to be relaxed and open. Also don't lie in your CV, because good HR people surely will catch on at some point.

Good luck in hunting a new job. In and +1

try LinkedIn

as someone else already mentioned, write a nice CV where you emphasize the things you're good at and things you want to do, then create an account on LinkedIn and something might come

good luck!

EDIT: oh, sorry, I'm NOT in :)

misteryo: Requirements: Give me your best job-hunting tip. Try not to repeat ones already entered in the thread.
Manifest the job you want. By that I mean don't just look for advertisements and go to interviews, cold call and contact companies you'd like to work for regardless of jobs being on offer. Be positive and be focused. Sell yourself but do so honestly. If you can share your enthusiasm, your passion for what you want to do, including what you are capable of and willing to learn, you will stand out in prospective employer's minds. Ask them to keep you on file in case anything comes up. Be genuinely friendly and interested in working for the company(which is easy to do if it is something you are passionate about) and even offer a trial run (for free if you have to, difficult to say without knowing what type of work you do).

When I have wanted work, I have generally gotten it that day by using the above methods. Good luck to you, and as Momo said, save some time to enjoy yourself and recharge, as keeping your spirits up goes a long way to getting employed.
I'd also suggest thinking of things you can do on the side in the meantime, even something like volunteer work can lead to something permanent down the road as it shows you are doing something, giving back to the community rather than being idle, and most importantly - you are keeping in contact with people who will get to know you and can be a reference/contact to aid your search for employment.

Good luck! :)

PS - in for darkplanetar as I already have that wonderful collection. Great suggestion re Ultima Lazarus! (the reason I got the collection)
Aside from CV and recommendations the way you present yourself during an interview is important.

Be calm and composed, answer the questions clearly without stopping between sentences. Focus on the person that is holding your interview and try keeping eye contact instead of looking around. Be confident but try not to come of as overconfident or arrogant. It's mostly what helps me when I'm looking for a job, some other stuff was already said so I didn't want to repeat it.

In, thank you for the giveaway.
In for darkplanetar since they showed the initiative to use their own networking skills. :)

Just about all the major suggestions I would make have been covered already, but one further thing I would add is - never stop learning. While you are out of work, continue to build your skill set. Grow competency in what you know, and add more beyond it. A lot of fields change rapidly and if you can bring a fresh skillset to an employer, that will give you an advantage over those who are merely resting on what they already know.
My best suggestion is to try to keep a positive attitude as being jobless and looking for work can be incredibly depressing. When I was out of work I was lucky to have a friend nearby who was in the same situation and we would help each other out by talking and trying to keep our spirits up.
The best thing you can do is use your network of pre-existing friends and associates to help you look. The "secret job market" is more valuable than the public one now, and many publically posted jobs have a disproportionate number of applicants for the position, making them difficult to get.

He's not living in Romania, you know?! :P But it's the States, so it might work regardless :D

My tip would also have been LinkedIn and contacts. But that's already taken. It's always a good idea to go over your CV with someone who are familiar with how things are done and what employers are looking for.

I'm in, but seeing how are there so many good tips in this thread, I might as well not take part in the giveaway :D Thanks!

I once saw a documentary that clearly stated they drink alcohol there too :P
I'm in for darkplanetar, since I already own them.

As for tips, I would say keep in touch with all former people you can. That way when you get in this situation you have as large a network as possible to find out positions that may not be public. Also in this I include keeping in contact with old school chums (or reconnecting.)

Also make sure to try to keep yourself focused and centered on whatever it is you want to do. Its easy to fall into the trap of taking whatever comes your way.

Good Luck.
Don't give up!;)
