cogadh: All they are saying is this thread has over 1300 responses and only a few are correct. Sock eater was one of the correct ones... he has to be, there's no way to deny that Ohio clue.

Arteveld: Of course, i know. But they gave a new clue, so it's not all... So what's the second thing?:)
-> "A messenger is not named for a soldier, but precedes one."

What does it really matter? Now that we know that Arcanum was correct, then we already know that means Sierra/Activision. Mystery solved, no need to belabor any more over these clues.

A_Future_Pilot: If it is sierra (which I'm still hopeful for, they said "Not alot" of correct answers, not "None") that would mean the Homeworld series!!!!!

Sorry Homeworld was acquired by THQ when they acquired Relic. This is why people petition THQ for Homeworld 3.

Runehamster: I just looked up Arcanum...
It looks awful. Is it just gamespot failing at life and video game reviews again, or is it really that bad?

It's gamespot failing at life/reviews.
Like Fallout (different studio with much of the same team), the game was buggy on release due to limited budget. Buf I believe it's pretty playable in it's latest form and is a pretty solid RPG overall.

Wait... I must be drunk. When did we get it confirmed that Activision are on GOG?

Activision owns the remains of Sierra. Sierra owned Arcanum. Therefore...

Runehamster: I love Homeworld. I've still got the disc for the first one. Best ever space strategy sim.
No...scratch that. Best strategy sim ever.
Darn...my disc is at my parents' house >.>

My disk is (very sadly) scratched beyond repair after a good 10 years or so of great times!! That's one reason why I would flip out if GOG started carrying it!

Well, it was given after we've all yelled "arcanum! sierra! acrivision!"? Just as if it was only part of the solution.
You know, I wonder if they could just get Sierra. Reading the wikipedia page, it sounds like Sierra still operates sort of independently of their owners, except for select franchises that acti/blizz now publish. Adding to that, the only game specifically in a clue is Arcanum, which is the only Troika game that was published by Sierra.
GOG's hint that not a ton of the answers were correct derails the acti/blizz guess, because at the time they wrote that tweet acti/blizz was definitely the overriding thought.
My money is now on Sierra.
EDIT: can the gog staff be giving rep out when people get clues right? because my rep just went up twice and i already got my rep point for the day.

Activision does not own all that was Sierra. Remember there was a clusterfuck around their demise. Rebellion and THQ both took a slice out of that pie as did... EA. Brutal Legend?

That could be. Personally, I'm very satisfied with what has already been figured out, anything more is just gravy to me.
I think most people are concerned with the Quest series.

Oh come on! You just got yourself out of eating a sock, don't get dragged back into it.
um i just watched sierra and activision game list and im not waiting any game..well maybe few :)
I'm sure I remember hearing that Sierra were bought by Vivendi (the parent company of Activision/Blizzard), and they operated individually until more recently when there was some merging... then everything gets a touch more complicated.

But Activision did keep Arcanum as part of the Sierra that they assimilated.
