The Collector's Edition contains:

Physical copy of Terraria
Pickaxe key-chain with the Terraria logo
Terraria poster
Terraria trading cards
Unique in-game pet bunny!

For now it is available to pre-order on UK and DE Amazon, they are working on the US version too. I did not check the discussion about used DRM so I don't know if this version is just a Steam key + installation CD (because Terraria is available only on Steam), or the devs did make DRM-free version.
As much as I like Terraria, I don't really see a point in them releasing a "Collector's Edition".

That's the only thing I'm interested in. I don't care about keychains, posters and whatnot, I'd just like to be able to buy a non-Steam version of the game.
A lot of stuff for 20€.

But nothing that catches my fancy...

I think it's because people go for that sort of thing.

I heard somewhere (can't remember where though, so take this with a pinch of salt) that the version on the disc won't be tied to Steam, but there won't be any updates for it. To get updates you HAVE to use the Steam key so you're back where you started.
