Although I like Deus Ex a lot, I've always thought that SS2 was the tighter game. Deus Ex was an unfocused, inspired mess. A sort of random splattering of paint that somehow ended up being the Mona Lisa. It had so many good ideas that it didn't know what to do with them, and sometimes felt more like a manic parade of different concepts and philosophical ideas than a cohesive whole. In contrast, SS2 always felt like it knew what it wanted to be, and did a much better job of keeping its eyes on the prize. Which isn't to say that SS2 is necessarily "better." Just that I prefer its more focused approach to the "just do all the things" philosophy of Deus Ex.

Also, I love the more intense horror focus of SS2

For me its Deus Ex by a very large margin.

Being stuck on a space ship the whole game vs. multiple locales all with unique feels and characters all across the globe.
survival horror elements vs. open ended skill combinations and many resources to support your choices.
Finding out what happened on a ship vs. global conspiracy, multiple factions, etc.
Scripted and "specific" plot vs. affecting the plot in some key areas by decisions and gameplay options.

etc, etc.

Is SS2 bad. NO! Its great. But DX1 is greaterest!

YMMV
Does SS2 have any sniper options? I was never a die hard Deus fan but I loved being able to pick people off from a distance!
Should I feel guilty for not having played any of them?

Yes.
You are going to hell!

I'm joking. Previous to yesterday I didn't even know what SS2 looked like or what type of game it was.

Yes. Go play them now.

Well there's always physical sniping: Running at someone at full speed and hitting them in the face with a wrench. That counts, right?

Works for me!

Yes

But really, I'm happy enough to have the chance to play a game that is at least on the same comparable level as DX. That is awesome enough by itself.

Not really, no. IIRC your weapons are pretty accurate so you can pick off enemies from a distance if needbe, but most encounters are short-medium range and there are few opportunities to get the drop on your foes. It's set on a spaceship, after all.

This must mean that Condemned is actually the greatest sniping simulator ever made!
