Ah, here's this thread. :)

Yes, that's a sure way to lessen a player's enthusiasm. Good thing my install process went smoothly. But then, I started playing before it went F2P, using the free trial (up to level 15), so maybe that made a difference.

Installing a game on the day it goes F2P is probably not the best thing to do. I hate a terrible time with lag of tens of seconds on DCUO when it went F2P, not to mention waiting minutes to log into the servers. That changed to the better a little further down the line.

Whitecroc: (Why is it capped?)
Because internet companies in Canada are the WORST.

(Netflix actually condemned it as "almost a human rights violation". Which is a huge exaggeration, but it's still pretty wretched.)
Small correction, F2P users only get the two action bars. Lame, but I don't think you need more if you manage space carefully.

Whitecroc: Think limiting customization for free players is standard in F2P? Eh, it's not a huge deal. Helmets look good for the most part.

PenutBrittle: Limiting customization is fine. Helmet toggling is almost universally just a simple toggle in the options menu. For me, that's on par with charging extra to play the game in widescreen resolutions.

Yeah helmet toggling isn't usually considered "customization", switching from the boring, brown leather skullcap to the dragon skull helmet that you can make glow with whatever color aura you want is usually considered customization...

Wait, can't you make macros (like to swap equipment)? I don't know how many skills two bars is, or if they allow chaining (basically macroing a chain of skills onto one button), but that sounds... lame...

Seriously, good game or not, it sounds like the F2P version might be neutered enough to make it not quite such a good game anymore...

EDIT: Obligatory http://penny-arcade.com/comic/2011/12/21 (was an exaggeration, but we'll still call it "off" on time frame, still horrifyingly accurate).

Unfortunately, the game does not support macros. I know, it's kinda weak, but you get used to it. The only thing I really miss is mouseover for healing, and the devs have stated that it's something they're working on.
Why doesn't this post appear on my recent posts list? I can't even find it by searching.

Anyway, I'm glad that I started playing a day before it went F2P. The character I created uses a race which isn't available for F2P but I can still play it after the transition.

I usually tick *make this my favoutrite" at the top of the page, of posts I want to keep an eye on, as I have the same problem with some posts disappearing off my list.
I just found out that you can't be a Twi'lek in the free version.

While this makes it pretty much certain that I won't be playing the game at all, just out of curiosity does anyone know if you can buy the right to be a Twi'lek from the Cartel Store, and if so how much is it? Or is it only open to subscribers?

They're 600 Cartel Coins and are Legacy-wide unlocks.
