While it does look technically impressive, I really don't see any reason to pledge, as the whole thing feels more of a funding their tech than a game.

Well if you like the tech, there is still a reason to pledge. And maybe in time, this tech will lead to a great game. But obviously, if you are interested in pre ordering a good game with bonuses you can only get from kickstarter, this project doesn't seem the best option for you.

Well now, that editor made me excited. If this game IS procedurally generated like he claims and looks that damn impressive, I'm sold. Also it would be cool if we could get the tools, I would love to mess with it.

I'm sold. I like this more than a project that only has a setting to talk about. As long as it has some variety in the game so it doesn't get mindlessly repetitive and it has a halfway decent story, I think I'll greatly enjoy this game. I'd rather play a game like this one than one with too much unnatural exposition in the form of information dumps going on.

I'm more into this than the Obsidian project. With that project I pledged more for games that they made in the past that I liked, like Icewind Dale and ToEE.

I think some people will be disappointed with many Kickstarter projects, but many of these projects I think will be great games that are screaming for modding. Project creators can focus on what they do best that other people aren't capable of doing while modding can fill in all the little details that developers don't want to spend hours on which then might possibly make them into masterpieces. I feel this way about Faster Than Light. I consider it a plus as long as modding is made easy for the people who want to do it.

I haven't pledged to this one yet. but I probably will. I like the looks of that engine and what they've been able to accomplish with their tech. But I'm waiting for more info on the rest of the game before I dive into this one.

I think the project looks very interesting, and hopefully it will reach it's target.

Many KS projects are just ideas, but these guys seem to have done a lot of ground work. That is the sort of projects I want to support, which is also why Grim Dawn was my "pet KS project". I will not donate as much money as I did to GD, but I'll support the project from both my KS accounts (to get two copies of the game).

That fight against the big guy (or ogre, or whatever) with the morning star looks pretty awesome (most likely annoying to be knocked down all the time, but the technical side is impressive). I really hope they manage to create a great game out of the framework they have so far.

Same here, I dug out the song and played it a good ten times or so, to atone for forgetting for so long.

The project seems indeed promising and I got very excited by the pitch video, something I can't claim for any other KS I've seen.

Those guys (or the guy, if you will) have done a good amount of legwork to show for and present a much clearer vision of their goal.
They get a shit load of "generic this and that" and "awful animation" reactions.

That's really unfair, especially since most other successful KS projects are nothing more than wistful ideas and big promises.

I like supporting new projects, but I want a "balanced deal". I might support this project with more money, but it will be from one or two new accounts (so that I get an extra two game copies to give away).

Oy, I'm of two minds about this one. I think I end up on Psyringe's field though. Their engine looks really, really nice, and it's really impressive that it was all done by one dude. However, while good tech is nice, I feel that solid details about what exactly the game is are still lacking too much to get my pledge at the moment. As Psyringe said, it feels at the moment that they're relying a bit too much on buzzwords and vague promises without having much to actually show. They've talked a bit about the skill system, but they really need to talk about how the game actually plays. And their excuse that they don't want to give anything away because of, er, reasons doesn't fly. Just give a theoretical example, it doesn't have to be from the game. Tell us a bit about how we can confront situations and what sort of roleplaying we can do. Tell us how exactly combat works. Tell us what the overall point of the game is! I'm not getting a feel of what their vision is or what Sui Generis will be, all I'm getting is that there's this guy who programmed a really nice engine and he also knows some industry buzzwords. Also the somewhat snippy tone of the recent question-answering post put me off a little.

Anyway, that all being said this is a project I really want to get into, so I will continue to watch them in hopes that they show more pertinent stuff. Rant over. :)
