Lucedia5161: snip
A wife buying games for his husband on 41 th anniversary of wedding. You must be an exceptional woman, Lucedia :-D

I know nothing about FPS but as far as flight sims are concerned, out of those on GOG:

- Wing Commander 3 & 4
- Freespace 1&2
- Aquanox 1&2 ('flight' sims underwater)

As someone above recommended - does your husband have a joystick? It could be a nice gift. If you want sth new & shiny I recommend: Thrustmaster T16000M - if you want to go retro: MS Sidewinder Force Feedback (make sure it works on USB)
How about Riddick? That's some nice fun right there. :)

Have you ever tried getting him into First Person RPGs like Skyrim? And does he prefer single player or multiplayer experiences? Slower, faster?

Lucedia5161: So let me know some suggestions on what you think would make a good game for him

Lucedia
Congrats on 41 great years!

Check PMs for some space-flight goodness.

Aveweto: if you wanna get him to play some mix between rpg and strategy with a minimal level of city building, similar to warcraft 3, hit him with spellforce if he doesnt already have it

AlKim: IMO, SpellForce isn't a terribly good game. The sequel is way, way better, and though it's probably technically not as good as WarCraft 3, SpellForce 2 doesn't take itself so seriously and it's better for it as far as I'm concerned.
i was talking about spellforce as series not just spellforce 1
and you wont find many games out there on a level with warcraft 1 to 3 and well blizzard wont bring them here anytime soon either

Grab him Nexus: The Jupiter Incident. It's one of the most interesting strategy games out there... and it's on sale right now!
System Shock is a good hybrid FPS/RPG, as is Deus Ex. However, I would recommend the Rise of Nations/Legends games (non-GOG, be sure to get the Microsoft versions) as they controlled a lot like the Age series, but were a lot faster paced with a more complex resource management system. On the FPS front I would probably recommend Quake series (also non-GOG) if he has an old computer to play the first two I would certainly recommend those first. On the flying games front I always liked the Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator games. Finally for normal RPGs, I would probably say the Witcher series, I beat those two in about a month and a half of playing the first one (then my hard drive crashed). Congrats on the 41st!
I also suggest Wing Commander 3 & 4 and Freespace 1&2 Two Amazing space sims and i have myself played freespace 2 at least once a week from the day i first bought it over a decade ago.

You could try vampire the masquerade bloodlines, good mix of rpg and fps and its on sale on amazon and steam right now for 5$ just be sure to get the unofficial patch for it.

Either way happy anniversary to you both!
so he likes FPS and you want him to try and RPG?!
