Oh, this was the worst:

I bought the original black XBox, mostly in order to turn it into a glorified DVD/media player. I think I've used it only a few times for that purpose, I watched e.g. my Robocop DVD collection with it. I just found that it was far too loud, cumbersome and just silly as even a basic DVD player. The XBox gamepad is a bad multimedia remote controller, and for some reason the XBox didn't seem to send aspect ratio signal correctly either, ie. my TV would not automatically set a 16:9 aspect ratio for DVD movies.

But at least I have some games for it, right? In reality I've only tried to play Halo 2 on it, but I found it near unplayable with the gamepad, so in the end I got and played the PC version of Halo 2 instead. It found the PC version much nicer to play, so that's the version I played to the finish.

So I guess my XBox (and XBox Halo 2) purchases were quite silly. I still have the unit though.

Ouch.. I have about 1400 games, OCD collecting from bundles.. If I make the cut I might just keep maybe 1/4 of it all? >.<

I bought a Wii at the end of its cycle and a bunch of cool games. I thought, now I can catch up all the missed exclusives. But since my purchase, I'm bored just by thinking of playing on the Wii.
I don't know why, but everytime I grab the Wii-Mote, I'm tired of this console and don't play longer than 20 minutes. Maybe it's the controller, I don't like that thing.
The only game I want to play is Super Smash with some friends and we use Gamecube-Controllers for that. But Mario Galaxy, Zelda TP, MetroidPrimeTrilogy, Okami, RE4, Xenoblade... I can't get myself to play any of these titles.
I wish, I never would have bought that whole crap-package.

Those are great games, though -- maybe you should give it another chance?

cmdr_flashheart: I still feel bad about buying Lucius- the only game I can't imagine playing ever again; at least with other games I am excited to play them at some point. Effing Lucius.

Novotnus: I'm glad I bought it... but it was cheap and I like collecting crappy games :)
Wow, that's some tenacity. I get so turned off if a game has a truly bad quality, it becomes unplayable for me; mainly the reason why I watch lots of gameplay videos before purchasing. However, Lucius looked interesting in the gameplay videos, I wish I had paid more attention to the reviews of the game. Ah, well, lesson learned.

But I can see how there can be some entertainment value in playing a crappy game, either if you approach it from an academic angle, or for the shits and giggles.

If I would live in that house I would fear that if I left I would fall from the earth.

This is my most stupid purchase though. =(
Gents, your purchases is kinda...small. I bought DSLR camera, which i now not sure if needed. I feel like i not mature photographer yet to handle it...and yeah, it was more then 600$...
Gothic 4.

I don't want to talk about it.

At least you have a house to live in.

In 2004-5 I was 12 years old and I was on a Star Wars craze thanks to the prequals and I had alot of money to spend on christmas.

And I spend it stupid shitty useless Star Wars merch thats as of today are long gone.

The most egregious thing I purchased at that time was a Darth Vader gumball machine thinking it came with the gum:

(Thats what it exactly looked like)

So if there is one thing I hate about the Star Wars Prequals above all else its making me waste my christmas money on useless shit :(

Denial is not a river in Egypt.
I got a bundle primarily for Dungeon Bowl because I was enjoying Blood Bowl LE, forgetting that they never implmented AI in Dungeon Bowl and it's multiplayer only!

When I was a kid I also bought some X-Files 'interactive CD' (remember those, before broadband and youtube and stuff?) for a couple of pounds from the market thinking it was this:

The guy on the stall even said it wasn't a game and I just thought he was mad or stupid!

kalirion: 9/10 of the bundles I buy. Not necessarily because they're bad deals, but because I have much better games waiting in my backlog for me to play.
Indeed. So many games...
Can I nominate my wife's purchase for me? If so, it's this: Finger Football

She thought it'd be funny....it's a miracle we're still married...

edit: Games wise, Psychonauts.

Games wise, I bought a humble bundle where half the games I had already, but was going to give those keys away, only for them to do a "one key for the entire pack" that week. Siiigh.

Non-games wise, bought a car years ago, only used it for 3-5 months of the three years I had it.

The Happening dvd....

- Overpriced DVDs of Science Fiction shows...
- Overpriced DVDs of movies that aren't really good.
- Overpriced PC games that could of been purchased 75% off later.
- Overpriced hotel rooms.
- Overpriced Viking helmets that were only good for decoration...

I've learned from my mistakes though. Nowadays I'm not so reckless with spending money. But nowadays, I couldn't be reckless with spending money even if I want to be reckless with spending money. :(
