Does anyone know of a site to purchase a copy of Strife that is playable on modern operating systems (Win7/WIn8)? Or if there is a way to play the old DOS based discs on modern operating systems?

I know someone has been working on a re-imagining of the game with Brutal Strife but I was hoping to play the original again.

I loved this game back in the 90s and it has been largely forgotten.

Thanks!

That's a real shame. Thanks for letting me know about Dosbox, I'll check it out.
I just downloaded it from [google search] and it ran fine through dosbox. The file is only 24mb though, so if it came on a CD then most likely there are cutscenes missing

For Strife, you could try zdoom. It is a souceport. In practice, this means that the game will run much better, in performance but also with mouselook, widescreen, etc...
You need the WADs or whatever (I have not it installed right now, but if you really can't figure it out, I shall help with a step by step explanation.
Keep in mind that the sourceport is not a remake, so you need the original game. You can buy it on ebay or similar, but it is easily found in sites like abandonia or the pirate bay.

If you are interested about these kind of games, the sourceport can run hexen, heretic and doom (obviously :P) too.

EDIT: I forgot how easy it was. Just extract the zDoom.zip file to a folder and copy inside the game (just the STRIFE1.WAD) and you can play

Matewis: snip
Seeing how that site also has Body Blows available to download, I'd suggest removing the link, since it is abandonware, and GOG has asked us not to link to such sites.
