More convenient yes, slightly maybe, but still, more convenient or not, a full screen game launcher is very far from being a revolution it's even not anything new, definitely nothing to be really excited about.

Nowadays it never had been easier, for anybody who wants to, to play PC games on TV. The biggest weakness/flaw PC have over console in this category, and most probably one of the reasons why lots of peoples prefer console, is that with a console... well you don't need to have a gaming PC in your living room and Valve's XBMC-lite is not going to do anything against that.
As someone who has all my consoles run through my computer's media card, I must say that I'm laughing at all the Valve fanboys that act like this is anything that you need Steam for. But then again, Valve feeds on ignorance.

Fenixp: Playing from your couch with all the advantages PC gaming has? I... Why would you even ask?
I just love this argument.
How playing on this: http://www.cbc.ca/olympics/blogs/destinationvancouver/couch.jpg
can be more comfortable than this:

Seriously, the couch argument is one of the stupidiest I heard from console fanboys ;-) I'm not saying you're one, but geez... Couches are not even close with comforatble gaming than usual PC seat.

I don't have any consoles anyway (unless you count an Atari VCS 2600 somewhere in my parents' attic), but ... in which way is this "Big Screen" better than XBMC (which I tried a couple of months ago, and found interesting, but unnecessary)?

You've clearly not seen our couch.

edit: but seriously...
a) controller just lets you sit more comfortable. It doesn't matter whether it's on a chair, couch, or lying in a bed - it just does, it hardly restricts your position in any way.
b) splitscreen and hotseat, which I play a lot with my wife. It's much better when we can assume maddening positions around the bed with a controller than to have to get glued to a screen.

That's what I was wondering..

No matter how comfortable your couch is, it's not designed for gaming. My PC seat has all anatomical shapes that are suitable for hours of gaming.

Sitting and gaming on usual couch makes your neck hurt like hell after quick play. And you're changing positions like every 5 minutes.

Every time PC seat >>>> any couch ever created.

annnnd, it might just depend on, who is on the couch next to you ;-)

edit: I see you already ninja'd me, lol :P

I'm sure that's not your opinion and that it's an undeniable fact that applies for every person ever, because you know better than me what I find comfortable :D

Goody, I'll go find a nearest engineer and ask him how should I sit comfortably. I think I should also ask him at what pace should I walk comfortably and what kind of food do I like.

You sound just like those retards who like to argue "my 15 year old tv is better than this new fancy TV plasma-shit", sorry.
But I don't care enough to argue more. You would probably argue with professional race driver that your Fiat driver seat is better and safer than his sport Subaru seat, and engeneers who produced it don't know shit about seats.

I... What on earth are you talking about? Sure, you can have a comfortable chair and you can prefer it to a couch, it's fine, I'm not even trying to persuade you otherwise. But I like to wiggle around a lot, lie down for a bit, sit in a different position, etc.

Our couch doubles as a bed and it's just incredibly relaxing to lie down and play something, it's also just amazing to kick back, cuddle to my wife and get a game going. It's amazing. And I'm sorry, it's just not possible in what you have posted. And I kind of do take offense to being called a retard because my personal preference differs from yours, especially around these boards.

Edit: Yes, if I found my fiat driver seat more comfortable than his sport subaru seat, of course I would argue with him about it. I mean seriously, it's a no-brainer, why on earth would I say I feel better in something I just don't? I'm not at all talking about healthy sitting or whatever, I'm talking purely about personal preference here.

The problem you don't understand is, it's not only a matter of preference, but also a matter of anathomy and physics.

You may say that riding a horse is better for you than driving a car, but what you said was simply like IN GENERAL playing on a couch is better than playing on PC seat. At least I saw this as a similar to "ooh, playing on pc seat is so bad, the couch is awesome and this is why console gaming is awesome" bullshit arguments.

But I'm sure your orthopedist is happy :P
