You can add arbitrary games to the Desura client much the same way as you can with the Steam client, but you're unlikely to get morciu's Steam problem with Desura. Still, that doesn't help with patching and those other features that you are looking for.

I actually have a side-project that I'm working on to provide a unified client for Humble, Royale, GOG and DotEmu (through Lua/Javascript plugins, so you can add support for others too) and handle launching, installing, uninstalling and updating games, as well as syncing multiple backups of your installers if you want. Unfortunately it's a biggish task and I have little free time so it probably won't be ready until near the end of the year.

You should go to GoG HQ and announce them that you are currently under their employement, whilst coding most demanded features. That'll make it your main focus!

I wish. I had planned to develop a client while on leave, but I haven't actually gone on leave in the last 2 years :S

Karlallen: Hey,

I've recently joined Steam (completely for DX-HR and Skyrim) and there is a copy of things I quite like about it.
1. The Library (rather than making a shortcut folder)
2. The Shift+Tab internet thingy
3. Ease of patching games (especially that this can be turned off)
4. Time played stats etc...

Does anyone recommend a similar program for managing games for non Steam games? The bit I really like is the internet overview thing (I really can't think of what this is).

Regards

Karl
