Too bad we probably will never see something like that for GOG.
a extremely small fraction of steam titles work on the OS... and this would be using the net stream feature but the link i can see... as for the portability your stuck with that small fraction but at home on your own network i can see access to the full library as a strong possibility.

but given that Alienware doesn't even have access to SteamOS this looks like a pipe dream.

I dunno, you could probably hack the "steamboy" to get to the underlying Linux OS and then install GoG games on it.

Can't imagine it being much fun though - trying to play keyboard and mouse or joystick based games on a joypad with a screen built in.
Bit of a bad sign that the Steamboy has better specs than the tiny little laptop I've been lugging around for portable gaming. It certainly would make some of my gaming on the go easier, but I'll come back to it when there's more details.
I don't see myself using this at all. I think the UI would be to small and the controls awkward.
I could be wrong but IMO a 3ds and games that were developed specifically for it, is probably more enjoyable.

It's precisely those specs that made me think "scam" immediately. Nobody can seem to specify WHO is producing it - everyone is quoting everyone else - and there is no battery that will sustain operation for long enough to be worthwhile. This would run rather hot rather quickly, and the battery will probably last an hour tops.

The whole thing stinks to high heaven.

I think a PC handheld should really have a keyboard like the Pandora. Without one, you're just shutting yourself out of too much of the library.

Well, there are and have been all sorts of concepts around - you never know if one of them actually works some day.

Or future version of Nvidia Shield maybe?

Well with all tablets you can already hook a keyboard to it, and i have an archos gamepad that has a joystick built in.
A more powerful version is coming http://www.archos.com/products/themed/gamepad2/index.html
And dosbox turbo works fine with, though it's a bit of a hassle adding each game manually.
A portable that would just hook up to your steam / GOG library and does everything itself would be just ideal as this portable claims it would do. Though i also have my doubts how in the end it will work out for this one.
But sometimes you just want something smaller...in your hands.

I have no idea about it's actual performance but I doubt I'd want to wifi my games, so at the very least it'd require a network cable connected to it, and a powercable for any serious sessions. At that point the usefullness of the portable thing kind of goes out the window.
